i would say my average pube length is about 3 inches. i also trim in the lower regions. for the same reasons.

when i had my c-section they shaved the top part of my pubes. the doc said, can i just shave the top part here (i requested no shaving so i said, "sure, as long as when it's itching me like crazy i can call you and complain."

needless to say i couldn't even feel any itching where they had cut me, which is where he had shaved. now i have little in grown hairs struggling to be free from the scar tissues that has formed. as i pluck them out they don't regrow.

ah well. i guess that won't be the only hair that's sacrificed to my baby as he grows up.

I think I need to join you all. I'm really tired of having to defend my hairiness. (Yes. I have pubes. I'm an adult woman. I choose *not* to shave them off, particularly when working around a belly full of fetuses.)

And I'm a Scandinavian-ancestry girl, so there's not all that much hair anywhere to start with! Argh.

my friend christine recommended a great movie to me recently. (SO not your typical western!) at the end there's a scene with juliette lewis swimming naked and she's got full-on pubic furriness. no legs or armpits, that i could tell, but still nice to see. i really wonder if shaving/waxing that area is truly the "norm" or if we're just made to think that. elizabeth perkins was fluffy too in her nakey "weeds" scene (which was also cool because her character was at a full length mirror coming to terms with her recent mastectomy). now i just want to start seeing a few legs n pits on screen. too bad we don't all live in LA so we could flaunt our hawtness there and maybe make a difference!

sounds like a good movie. I might have to watch the movie sometime. It would be nice to see some hairy women instead of those that are nicely trimmed or no hair even in the middle ages what the heck they didnt shave thier legs and those of serf standard didnt shave at all. The only movie that had hairy pits that I know of was dances with wolves the white indian women had hairy pits. Dont know if anyone remembers that movie.

Of course I remember Dances with Wolves. It won best picture Oscar. I know what you mean about movies. I love Lost, but come on they are on a desert island..... how the hell are they hairless? And as far as I know women didn't shave anything till the razor companies decided to expand their market by advertising to women in the early 1900's. I was teaching my girls about 20th century fashion, and we read about it including some of the old ads talking about "unsightly hair in delicate places" meaning the armpits because they couldn't write armpit in ads! I don't know when it became such a norm for women to shave pubes. I think it has to do with how prevelant porn has become. I have shaved there, but jeez does it itch, and I am not ladylike enough not to scratch.

I hate shaving the pubic area. I cant stand the itching at all. So I just do some land scaping. I hate shaving the pits too so I just trim them too. Thank goodness I dont shave anymore. It cuts so much time.

obviously you didn't see the episode where jack was shaving his face with a rock. irl, i doubt half of those women would keep up with something like that. hello? potential monsters, shrinking food supply, waxing your eyebrows- which is highest on your list??

otoh, maybe there was a big ol stash of razors n cream from the plane. or dharma brand, like all the other supplies they discovered (hence assuring a full 7 seasons).

and i : sawyer but i cringed when, after kate was all excited about giving him a haircut, he still wound up with a big ol mullet.

i have a friend who shaves VEERY close because she doesn't want guys to think she's "dirty."

I asked her if she thought I was dirty and she said "G is different." (G is my husband.) I didn't know whether I should take it as a compliment or not. Or that i was dirty but G didn't care? Or that she was secretly acknowledging that my kind of man is smarter and less shallow than her kind of man. I like to think that last one.

My mom called me one day excited that her and my aunt had gone to get "Brazilians" together. I didn't even know what a brazilian was. i'm still not sure if i know. lol

anyway, i don't think shaving, or at least, complete vulva shaving is as prevalent as society tends to think it is.

i especially don't think that leg and armpit shaving exists as much as society thinks. i know sooooo many women who shave only when the special occasions come around. they know that most weeks they look like me. but if that wedding or picnic comes up, they fake the shaving-funk.

oh and on lost, because i just can't resist...

we JUST started watching this show. Another couple friend of ours lent us seasons 1 and 2 and now we've bumped season three to the top of our netflix queue (how in the world! do you spell queue?).

they said they felt bad because we were going to get addicted.

we underestimated them.

that show is like watching a soap opera! it's highly addictive.

and i agree re: the shaving or lack thereof.

One friend pointed to Sawyer's light beard and said, "He'll have that length beard for the entire show."

Since i've only seen the first two seasons I can only say that the character's whose hair seems to have changed the most are Walt and Michael's. And Sun's.

And of course, aside from men's faces, everyone looks pretty hairless and shiny, even into Season two when it's supposedly been like two months.

i'm sorry but WTF!?? why, oh why, would you want to date someone that ignorant anyway? i know plenty of folks are going to be grossed out when i'm wearing a skimpy shirt at the club but, know what? it's a great litmus test. no way am i going to falsify myself to meet someone else's standards, especially since my "dirtiness" goes waaaay beyond just not shaving! if a prospective partner can't deal with a little fluff they're really going to freak when they see how i live the rest of my life.

Hello all! Love to all you wonderful naturally beautiful women! Haven't shaved anything since I was 15, I'm 19 now. My husband is from Jamaica, and while I've been living there during the past few years, I have never once seen a woman who shaves. There really are some places that exist in this world where things other than vanity are more important

I removed my pic....some weird dude left me a comment and I got all freaked out...he was pretty hairy, too. Sometimes you forget how accessible these things are. So now you have to be one of my "friends" to see anything weird like that.

for me, there's no contest between jamaica and australia. first, despite the prevalent use, i'm pretty sure ganj is still illegal in J. plus i think the political climate is kind of on the hostile, turbulent side. I want your dreads..... I have wanted them for awhile but know that I am working they have a no dread or no extreme hairstyle rule and it is a flippin grocery store. Also I dont know of anyone around here that will do them.
Oh and news. I saw a hairy lady at the store today wow the first one since moving back here. Didnt say anything because didnt want to offend if she didnt mean to be hairy so I just looked and smiled and nodded like yeah there are more of me. The other day someone commented to me about my pits I guess they could see and they said something about if I am as a women going to have pit hair as long as mine I would either have to shave or cover them up with sleeves longer then the shirt they gave me so time to look for a 3/4 sleeve shirt. sorry for the long run on sentence post but had alot to say and needed not mess with punnie puncuation hehehhe!!!
