So, I stopprd using bleach, and I don't miss it much, except..........
My wooden cutting boards are just not getting clean! I used to hit them with bleach every now and then to kill germs (especially raw meat) and get rid of lingering odors like onion. I've tried baking soda and vinegar.......what do you use?
Try some Grape Seed Extract. You just put a couple of drops on the cutting board, scrub it a little with a damp rag and then let it sit. After a while rinse it off and there ya go!!!
I scrub it in the regular hot dishwater and soap with a dish scrubbie after every use. I don't have any problems with lingering tastes if it is washed in between. Of course, I always wash it well after cutting raw meat.
I use a glass cutting board for meats and wood for fruits and veggies. The glass doesn't get deep nicks like wood. I wash it in the dishwasher, just to be sure.
I can't find GSE anywhere! Where do you all find it? Also, does it have a scent? I usually use tea tree oil for around the house cleaning, but since I got pregnant, I can' t stand the smell...

You can get GSE at most health food stores. The brand we have is NutriBiotic (that was the only one our store carried). There is no smell at all actually (at least that my nose can detect
) and you can use it for a lot of different things (soaking your toothbrush to get germs off, cutting boards, as a mouthwash, facial wash, etc.). There is a package insert that comes with the GSE that tells you how to use it for the various applications. I imagine that if you don't have a health food store near you somewhere online has to have it!!!!
Also, you can bring the cutting board back to life by rubbing oil into it every now and then
