actually i HAVE come to not want to go to movies with a friend.

i just love the whole theater experience.

i get myself a popcorn and drink and then enjoy the movie. i hate talking while the movie is on.

and then when i am coming home i want SILENCE. i want no talking as i allow myself to reflect on the movie. i hate to come out and jabber. i sit and recall things from the movie and check and see if i got the whole thing. and then i want to come home and research something that got my attention.

esp. when you go for movies like the red violin or 300 or pan's labrynth or titus andronicus ...

however if i am going for something light and silly then i dont mind going with someone and come out jabbering. but mostly i dont like wasting money on light comedy. for instance i would not watch tooth fairy in the theater. i would only watch it at home.

in the short run you may question your sanity, but in the long run you'll never regret having reached out in love to another human being even if you are hurt in the process

not making a decision is a decision in itself

The only things we will take from this life are our experiences, feelings and thoughts. Never let the pull of the materialistic interfere with the beauty of life.

Here's what helps me: being near the ocean, long walks in nature, yoga, automatic writing (putting pen to paper and just letting things flow without judgment), writing a hand-written letter to someone you know would appreciate it, petting and caring for an animal, listening to music you haven't listened to in years that you used to love, breaking out old photo albums and enjoying the memories that come up, painting a picture from your heart, dancing in the rain, learning how to play a musical instrument, and/or getting a massage

Do your best everyday, no matter what. That best will not always be to the same standard every time. And it will certainly not be someone else's best in any given situation. But the point is, as long as at the end of the day you can go to bed saying I did my best in that (moment/situation/project/day etc etc) then that is all you can do and that is good enough.

I know the value of this now, but I'm still having a hard time doing it. My natural inclination is to avoid pain, usually shame-related. It's only recently that I learned that some kinds of pain are normal, and that the healthy way to respond is to quietly be with it and accept it.
