i am just feeling good tonight and thought maybe this was a place to share it. The last decade for me has been up and down. I had tried so many times to figure out how to get it together. I went to a therapist off and on and read every self help book in the world. Finally this last year I was at my wits end. I saw a therapist that thought i should take an antidepressant of anti anxiety med. I really didn't want to, so i figured i had to do something. I had just read a study that said for mild to moderate depression/anxiety daily excercise had the same effect as medication. Now i have tried to get in an excercise habit probably 1000 times only to fail. I have a very self defeating personallity. But this time was different, because i felt it was for my health, which was starting to affect those around me. So i bought the book Body for Life, a program i knew about from a friend. I started getting up at 5am (and i typically had to make myslef get up at 8am, with a pot of coffee), and going to the gym. A week later i was like, hey, i just made it a week. Now i am 6 weeks into the 12 week challenge. I feel amazing. My mental health is skyrocketing, my physical transformation is astounding, and i am so proud of myself for sticking with it. The eating program is very whole foods etc and i think cutting out crap in my diet has helped too.

So is it okay here to give myself a pat on the back? i feel like i have lifted myself out of a hole i have been in since i was 15. And i just wanted to share. Thanks for listening.

I know how you feel I am on a antidepressant right now and I am alittle better. Still feeling tired all the time though. But am better now then what I was before I was on it. I wish I could be like you. A BIG pat on the back for you. Hope everything keeps on being good for you. I wish I could say the same.

Not only can you give youself a pat in the back, we're here for you too... You deserve it !

Go ahead, embrace life and love yourself!

And - thanks for sharing, it's always inspiring (at least for me), to hear "real people's" stories...

Josephsmommy, you don't have to be perfect to love youself too! I also know how YOU feel... you are also on the right track, taking care of yourself, so there's a pat on the back for you! ! Don't be too hard on yourself! (I know, I know, it's much easier said than done, but belive me, I'm there too...)

You did it all by yourself.

I exercised and ate well for years, even after the birth of my babes, but I was still depressed. I then decided that I was as happy as I decided to be. I decided to be happy. That was it.

I had the worst post partum experiences! I tried everything: therapy, exercise, vitamins, good healthy food. Nothing worked until I decided to be happy.

Abraham Lincoln said, "Most people are about as happy as they make their mind up to be."

Congratulate yourself.

You deserve it.

"The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie, deliberate, contrived and dishonest, but the myth, persistent, persuasive and unrealistic."
