Maria, sometimes, I think my affirmations, oter times, I write them. I have found the written ones to be most powerful.

I write a note to my dh every night, usually including one affirmation. Those almost always come true! Things like, "you'll come home early today, with pay".

The financial ones, not thinking 'poor' are the hardest for me, so I do them throughout the day, to keep reminding myself.

It;'s good to see so many taking part!!!

hi Red, thanks for the feedback (& the thread!) The writing a note thing is a good idea!

Right now I am thinking about & talking about these alot:
Healthy food is delicious & I love to eat it!
It is fun & exciting to cook healthy food for me & my family!
I feel good about myself today!

It's funny because the more the affirmation sounds like something I would just say out loud to a friend, the more I believe it when I think it to myself. It's like I am just reminding myself of what I really think & pushing the negative thoughts out of the way, if that makes any sense.

Another thing I am doing is harnessing other good feelings & pointing them toward myself. I am usually really negative about myself, constantly critical. But I am really excited about the new house we are having built. So when a happy thought about the house crosses my mind, I am trying to cram a real quick "I feel good about myself" thought in a top, kind of riding the coattails of that happy excited feeling. We'll see if it works!

thanks to all who are posting for sharing your affirmations! ~Maria

Just reminding us all to stick with it.

I've had a ton of car problems lately, cost a bunch of money but I had it to pay out, didn't have to use the credit cards. It's discouraging to have to pay it out, but better than charging it!

My affirmations:
I will accumulate $8,000 to $10,000 over the next year in my household account. :

We will pay off our mortgage over the next 7 years.

DH will retire in good health and we will sell 100 cords of fire wood a year.

I am unaffected by the actions of others.

I am resilient, I bounce back from hurt quickly and transform it into something positive.

I don't need to get up and buy those things on ridicilous discounts.

I have enough money for what I need.

Being with my family is what is important for the holidays, I don't need to buy stuff to be happy.

I'm in!! Subscribing.

You know, I've been reading this book called "Attitude is Everything" by Keith Harrell, and the ideas in it sound similar to the book that Red is talking about. This is about attitude in general applied to everything though, not just attitude about moeny.

He talks about negative thinking as a habit, but we can get into habit of positive thinking. We just have to practice at it. And we may still have bad days or setbacks, but a good attitude will make it easier to get through those bad times.

Some quotes I like:
Quote:
Think of your mind as a computer that can be programmed.
...
The subconscious mind never sleeps. ... Whatever is heard--from others, and especially from your own inner dialogue--it records...and keeps.
...
Most people allow their brains to be programmed indiscriminatelyThe computer adage "Garbage in, garbage out" as it applies to our own very own personal computer--the barin--should be stated as "Garbage in, Garbage stays." The brain hears negative things and accepts them as truth.
Quote:
The key to ridding yourself of this attitude of helplessness it to clear you mind of negative inner conversations and replace them with more hopeful messages. You can reframe your perspective by chaging and controlling your inner dialouge."
Quote:
The loudest and most influential voice you hear is your own inner voice, your "self-critic." It can work for you or against you depending on the messages you allow.

loon13, thanks so much! This is why I started a thread instead of doing this on my own. I have wandered and have been busy holiday shopping and thinking 'poor' thoughts again!

And my money is dissappearing!

So, I'm eager to get back on track. I'm going to get that book frmthe library. It sounds perfect.

A few points I'm trying to remember: to phrase things in the present tense; I have $$$ in the bank, not I will have....Or I am doing such and such, like I always pay my bills on time, even though that isn't true yet!

For instance, my last affirmations were faulty

"My affirmations:
I will accumulate $8,000 to $10,000 over the next year in my household account." SHould be "I am accumulating..."

"We will pay off our mortgage over the next 7 years." SHould be "We are paying off our..."

It's importatn to spend a few minutes a day meditating on these goals every day. I like to write them down, it helps me to focus.

I'm back on track, now let's all get happening!

I finally made myself focus on really doing/believing the affirmations, and it's really helping! As Red mentioned, phrasing/thinking in the present tense is crucial.

I've been thinking rich, beautiful, and successful, and have been thinking of a full family (we do foster care). It's working!

I'm down with this...

"Healthy food is delicious & I love to eat it!

I love to cook healthful meals for myself & my family!

I express myself creatively & feel fulfilled every day!

And, I add:

"I awaken each morning feeling rested and easily bound up into my day."

"People love to give me money for doing what I love"

"Everything I eat makes me thin and healthy"

And, I see you each realizing YOUR goals right now!

Okay, I will take you up on the TAO and join you!

DP *will* go looking for another job this month and will find something great that pays decent money.

He *will* get offered lots of over time starting in the new few weeks.

I will wake up every morning with a more positive attitude.

I will stop walking around wondering why people are looking at me/my kids and thinking the worst.

I will tell myself people are looking at us in awe of my beautiful family.

I WILL fulfill the 6wk exercise boot camp that I am joining tomorrow and I do it awesomely!

(Okay, considering I have NO self confidence normally, I think that's pretty good! )

I definitely need to! Generally I am so shy and assume people are thinking the worst that instead of smiling and saying hi, I drop my gaze to the floor and try to avoid eye contact with anyone. -sigh- So much to do, so little time! LOL

If you glance back at the thread, there are a few suggestions. Personally, I like The Wealthy Spirit. It's available from the library.

Here goes:

I observe my anger, let it flow through me and out of my body and mind. I am a patient, loving, calm mommy.

My house is me and I am it. Home is where I want to be.

I get paid for my writing. My writing is needed and sought after by wonderful magazines. I "say" funny, novel, truly interesting things in my writing.

I have enough money.

I live my dreams.

I have friends who I love to spend time with, laugh with, enthusiastically discuss the world with.

I love and am gentle with my mother.

My husband and I are together more hours each day. He is with the children more hours each day. We live in the world with my husband at home, without a traditional job.

I am kind to my miserable, biting dog. My dog is gentle.

Oh my, mamas, I'm not done yet! What a thrilling thread!!! --Nancy in NC

Glad I was passing by!!

I too have been stuck in that "poor" mindset. Fear of always being broke, no money for my future etc. But I know that I am bright enough and strong enough to create my OWN wealth. I have the ability to create an oppurtunity for myself to make wealth not only for me and my old age but my children and hopefully their children.
