When we lived in md I had to opt out of this. !st the nurses said they "did not think" that there was such a thing. I had to ask 5 times for the form. I just hope they DID end up putting it threw.

anyone who knows anything about SC feel free to share!
From my research they tried to pass a bill establishing it in 2006, but it never passed....

Hi laralee! I live in Maryland. What is it that I need to ask for to opt out of the registry. And who do I ask, if you don't mind.

I asked for the "form to opt out" at my doctors office. Asked the chick up front, then a new nurses, then the doctor. You can print it out online, but I just asked there.

If, and the nurse goes "but how will your child next doctor get his vax records if you leave our office?" Im like uhhhh, I will get copies?? lol

Here's the Oregon law:

http://www.oregon.gov/DHS/ph/imm/law/orsalert.shtml

and here's the registry:

http://www.immalert.org/new/

Scary finding: It also includes adults. I would also think that the new provision to track adults would mean that most kids would end up on it, even if you have a GP and don't do WBVs...don't you think?

Oh, here's the opt-out

The law allows authorized parents or guardians to exempt their children from ALERT for health and safety reasons. Contact ALERT directly to exempt your child, 1-800-980-9431.

Minnesota DOES have a registry, but it's fairly easy to opt-out.

http://www.health.state.mn.us/divs/i...ry/basics.html

I opted out via email, I just had to email the regional coordinator and answer a couple of questions to verify my identity.

Here's the list (of course, they don't link to this on the MDH page, I had to Google to find it ) of the regional coordinators:
