But the main cause of lying is increased probing by the public into areas that the government would rather not discuss candidly. If voters only asked fewer questions, politicians would tell them fewer lies.

I wish it were not news to the millions of Americans who appear to believe just about any piece of nonsense fed to them by the administration via the press. This adminstration's MO appears to be to plant "information," usually via an unnamed source, in the press about some subject they'd like the public to believe X about, when Y is really the case. The story about X gets hype. Then, when it's found to be unsubstantiated, no one sees the small retraction or article or letter to the editor telling everyone it was nothing. Thus, we have folks believing Iraq was in on 9/11, that France was selling arms to Iraq through official channels post-1991, that mobile biological arms units have been discovered in Iraq, and so on, when, to the best of everyone's knowledge, none of the above is true.

I agree with the above poster, but...

I also think that the media should just butt out of people's personal lives in general. It is one thing to expose a hypocracy, and another to just butt into private actions/behaviors. It seems like so many people are backing away from serving the public because they don't want to put themselves/their families through the hounding.

I thought the title/article was a scream - and that they thought this was somehow newsworthy!!! But the sad point is - is that some people will not believe the article!
