I was flipping through the channels last night, and I happened upon "The Country Music Awards", and I must say I had a difficult time not projectile vommiting.

I watched as these guys waved flags and plucked gitars' and banjee's. There was one song in particular called "Have you Forgotten?" This to me was a true indicator of the mentality, (or lack thereof) of the general public, and it was truly disturbing. In response, I decided to modify the lyrics slightly to reflect a more accurate representation of the facts.

Have You Forgotten?

I hear lots of hicks sayin “ war’s a good thing”
and we should "support" our court-appointed king
They talk about freedom, but they don’t ask why
thousands of innocent people must die
It makes em feel better, I suppose
to give the world a bloody nose
If you think that I’m preaching, let me just say:
A lot of bad decisions led up to that day

Chorus:
I ain’t forgotten
That the Taliban used to be our “cuddle bear”
And Saddam’s around cause Reagan put him there
How W promised to rebuild Afghanistan
He blew it up and still ain’t found “the Man”
Which reminds me Georgie, what about Bin Laden?
Have you forgotten?

They didn’t show any footage on my T.V.
of the fact that they haven’t found one WMD
Of kids blown away because corporate greed
Of the hunger, death, and overwhelming need
Of defense contracts that fuel the republican right
and how they profit big from bombs dropped in the night

Chorus:
I ain’t forgotten
That the Taliban used to be our “cuddle bear”
And Saddam’s around cause Reagan put him there
How W promised to rebuild Afghanistan
He blew it up and still ain’t found “the Man”
Which reminds me Georgie, what about Bin Laden?
Have you forgotten?

I’ve seen our boys come home in body bags
But I guess it’s good for those who make the flags
In just 3 years our world has gone to hell
Can we bring back peace?, One can never tell
Now W wants to build some bigger nukes
and he’s ready to “put up our nation’s dukes”
Will we follow this fool into another war?
I would like to see our peace restored

Chorus:
I ain’t forgotten
That the Taliban used to be our “cuddle bear”
And Saddam’s around cause Reagan put him there
How W promised to rebuild Afghanistan
He blew it up and still ain’t found “the Man”
Which reminds me Georgie, what about Bin Laden?
Have you forgotten?

Your lyrics to the song are great Madmax.

Why do you care so much about one song?

Of all the issues that you could give your time and effort, why this song?

It's not about "one song", it's about the stupidity and blind obedience of the people who support this fascist regime, and the bloodshed that could be avoided if we just wake up and get this modern-day Musilinni out of office. 9-11 was a tragic indicator of what happens when greed is the primary force driving our politics, and when we as a nation condone it through indifference and ethnocentric flag-waving at all cost.

Right on, madmax! I find the Toby song so unbelievably absurd in kicking other countries' 'butt' and strutting around being proud of murder.

And Coleen Rowley agrees with you on 9/11 and what could have been prevented.

uncanny inexcusability
Could someone help me out with this phrase? I'm not understanding it and not finding 'inexcusability' in the dictionary. Thanks.

LOL, my dd told me when the forgotten song comes on the radio she turns the sound down. WOO HOO!

I generally think Daryl Worley's music is ok, but I HATE that song. I think it just proves that they really don't get it, and also proves that they are sheep. They will buy anything the Bush group says.

BTW, Tody Keith can KMA also!

Pardon me for saying so but I believe the ONLY true memorial to the victims of 9/11/01 would be the TRUTH!!! Anything else is shallow and insulting to their memory.

Seems the truth is not convenient however, since it is being classified by those who maybe stand to be hurt the most by it.

Thank you Max.

NOT the uncanny inexcusability that I see in your song to accept the fact that AGAIN we brough 9/ll on ourselves.
I didn't look up 'inexcusability' to verify if it was a word, I looked it up to help me deconstruct meaning from this sentence. Because I am not understanding it at all.

'uncanny' - Peculiarly unsettling, as if of supernatural origin or nature; eerie.

If you will, 'NOT the eerily, supernaturally inexcusable fact that AGAIN we brought 9/11 on ourselves, that I see in your song'.

I'm still not understanding what this is supposed to mean!

Pardon my mistake with Toby Keith and Darryl Worley. From Worley's song:
Quote:
Some say this country's just out looking for a fight
Well after 9/11 man I'd have to say that's right
Can't argue there.

Just three reasons....
Forgive me, but where did you get these 'reasons'? Because Bin Laden has been very clear thus far on what is offensive about US actions internationally.

I respectfully disagree. Just because i support our president doesnt mean I am a sheep, or part of a herd. And because i dont believe what you do does not mean i "dont get it".

I'd post my applause for the song, but the smilies are giving my computer a hard time today.

madmax, I am a fan, and almost all of your poetic postings make we want to copy, paste and mass email! Considering I don't forward anything, ever, this says a lot.

Madmax, Thank you...I completely agree with the sentiment of all your posts.

The sad part is that some people don't have blind obedience...they do believe that this country is justified is reverting itself to the 1950's. The do believe that it is our right to rape and pillage other countries, under false pretenses of threat. WE are the worlds biggest threat.

The two sides posting her have very different morals and ethics. There are those of us who believe in peace, not only in raising our own children but in dealing with the population of the world at large.

Yes, Max.

I find in general, WILLFUL IGNORANCE among the citizenry, to be neither patriotic, nor in the best interests of our or ANY country. I am SURE that once the truth of what happened on 9/11 is revealed, there will be plenty of discomfort to go around for all.

That said, willful ignorance, therefore, is tantamount to treason in my opinion, especially with regard to such a truly coincidentally Reichstag-like appearing event that, in fact, has changed the face of life in America.

Amen!!! Let's not forget about right wing sponsored media-perpetuated willful ignorance.- Whew! That's a mouthful!

again the same could be said for you. I do know what you are trying to say. really! But as blind and mislead as you say I am (or conservatives in general), i cant help but think the same of you (or liberals in general). especially when i read the links provided.

may we all find common ground and peace together someday.
no matter what you say, no matter how you feel about my political views, as far as i am concerned, we are all on the same team....with just differing pov.
