"I read your book. When you get through, you say, 'If I could just get a nuclear device inside Foggy Bottom, I think that's the answer.' I mean, you get through this, and you say, 'We've got to blow that thing up,'" Robertson said during the interview.

Robertson also advocated bombing the State Department during a June interview with Mowbray.
Can you believe this guy? If Pat Robertson was a Muslim imam making these kinds of irresponsible statements, they'd lock him up in a New York minute. These are treasonous remarks, in my opinion. This sort of public discussion might trigger one of his wacko supporters into doing something really nasty. Unbelievable.

: He is so weird sometimes.

Funny...I don't see Ashcroft rushing to arrest Pat Roberts.

OOps..one of the senators in my area is Pat Roberts..I keep calling them both that. I know this is Pat Robertson we are discussing.

He is on the 700 club NM, a lot of them are just really..uumm....trying to think of a diplomatic word...nope can't come up with one. I don't think they should be overly involved in politics IMO. A lot of politics in the US is all about someone's religion and while I am not certain of the Biblical implications, it doesn't make sense to me.

Well anyways, does he really believe that? I don't usually listen to him so I don't usually know what he is yapping about unless it makes the news. (like now for instance) strange.

Hey sure until someone actually takes it upon themselves to...oh...fly some passenger-filled airplanes into buildings full of people because God or whoever gave them really explicit instructions.

Then it's not just their business anymore. Is it?

Not much to distingush ole' Pat from any other kind of zealot, really. People do loads of sick things in "___'s Name" (<----Insert your God's name here. Your mileage may vary. See your dealer for details.)

I think he's a _ _ _ _ _ (rhymes with trick).

Ah, but these are just the sorts of comments that get people of non-Christian faiths thrown in jail without legal recourse in these times. Why not him? It's just a wee bit of double standard, as other folks have already pointed out.

I even question the thought of just "how much" Christians should be involved in politics. Glad there are some there, but how biblical is it? I'm not called to do that, thats for sure What God calls them to do is their business.
I thought Christians were supposed to render unto Ceasar what is Ceasar's, and otherwise remain uninvolved in worldly activities. You'd think that fundamentalists, if no one else, would adhere to this. And I sure the he!! wish they would, in this country, at least. We'd all - Christians and otherwise - likely be much better off.

No flames from me. I don't really disagree. While I am Christian I don't like it taking such a large role in politics.

I have no problem when it does - my problem is when it is a really bad interpretation (which I'd recon is at least 75% of the theology on TV/Radio etc.) of the scriptures - mostly gnosticism, (which is a blasphemy).

My problem is that people spend so much time postulating on what God would think about issues.

I don't think God would care at all about gay marriages and some of these other things some people tear their hair out about.

I think he would wonder why some Christians put so much effort into condeming another's lifestyle when they could be using all of that energy and time on caring for the less fortunate. It doesn't make sense to me and it drives me crazy.

It's the kind of thing that makes Deism look really, really cool.

It was good enough for Voltaire and Thomas Jefferson. Just found a cool site. Check it out if you think there's a God but have trouble with people interpreting his or her "message".

http://www.deism.com/

And that, my darlings, is my 900th post. 100 more to go.

Praise Whomever.

He needs to be strip searched and humiliated like the rest of them. He should have to sleep with the lights on in his cell 24/7. He should be questioned every day for six months about inciting violence and who his contacts might be, especially if they used to hang out with Timothy McVeigh.

No special privileges just because he is PR.

Oh, my, you people are not honestly saying that G.W. would discriminate in an event such as this simply because of a person's religion, are you?
Because under a true democracy, everyone is treated equally, regardless of the religion or the color of the skin.
I think it's just another, uh, liberal media ploy.

El, could you elaborate? Are you saying 75% of theology on TV is of the gnostic kind? How do you define gnosticism?

Quote:
Gnos·ti·cism ( P ) Pronunciation Key (nst-szm)
n.
The doctrines of certain pre-Christian pagan, Jewish, and early Christian sects that valued the revealed knowledge of God and of the origin and end of the human race as a means to attain redemption for the spiritual element in humans, and that distinguished the Demiurge from the unknowable Divine Being.
Pat Robertson and Shrub are not gnostics.

Last I heard, orthodox Xtianity defines gnosticsim as heresy, not blasphemy.

I never see gnosticism on TV, unless I happen to catch the Dalai Lama or something.

Robertson didn't really mean it... I guess that's OK then. Another free pass for the rabid right. I suppose I could have also made the same joke and got off scot-free???

Ha ha. Ha ha ha.

I'm sure someone in the administration, likely Justice, pointed out to him that he (and the administration) might possibly be well-served by him issuing a prompt public apology.

Hilary (not the Briss'ed one), when I was living in England (when there were a number of IRA strikes in London), I remember hearing some enormous explosions one night, and initially being alarmed, but then recalling that it was Guy Fawkes day. Heh.

Oh, and yes, the CIA will be having a small word with you shortly.
