I dunno, I....breathe. Make a conscious effort to breathe, and let go. And get outside, even if just for a few seconds. Try to ground. I'm not good at it, but I do try. It seems to help. And the knowledge that I am taken care of, no matter what happens.

I second the idea to call police and not management!

How old are your kids? Why do they have to be in a restraint on a bus? I haven't heard of people doing that. Can you carry one in a sling or backpack? How about leashes?

I'm sorry about your MIL hug2.gif M and I both know how he is going to go, too, but I hope to heck that it's a good long time before he does.

Shark week, omg! I had no idea. I prefer "moon time" or "cycle" or "courses"-- I love my cycle, really. I didn't, before I had ds, but I really have a deep honor and appreciation for it now, and for what my body does, and what it goes through and went through in order to have him. I'm really blessed that I don't suffer with it, though.

Revolting - I'm with Maia on this, I just focus on connecting/grounding and sending up prayers or wishes for safety & security.  That is a lot to have gone through!! hug2.gif

Red - I personally have not woke up like that, instead I wake up angry or disappointed somedays. Either way - it is not a way to welcome the start of a new day. I hope you are gentle with yourself hug2.gif

Shark week - I learn something new every day!  I thought it was in reference to the Discovery channel special redface.gif  DH senses my moods a bit better than I do, and calls me out on it.  I just think often I am a wee bit grouchy - probably a sign for me to go and have a bit of me time to myself instead of inflicting my grumps on others.

Maxsfox - congrats on the land (that sounds amazing!!) and the back piece WOW!! That is beautiful ink!

I took an unexpected day off this week - went to the state fair, had cream puffs at 8am, and had lots of fun with the kids.  Did a bit of canning (pear slices and plums) and they look gorgeous in the jars.  We're going back to the State Fair tomorrow with my parents & the kiddos to see more animals - the care & love those kids put into raising them is amazing! Eat some more fair food and ride a couple of rides on the midway!

Hopefully I'll get to stock up on some more fruit to can, pick some cukes from the garden for pickles and enjoy some of the cooler lazy days of summer.  These days pass by way to fast anymore - goddess help me if I can just learn to enjoy every moment.

hi ladies.  just checking in from the beach.  thanks for all the wishes...we arrived safely and have had a wonderful week.  I miss my life at home, though, that's for sure.  It's weird, i guess I live pretty sheltered from greater society or something -- it's hard to understand how disconnected from the Earth so many people are... i'm such a recycling/reusing "tree hugging dirt worshipper" for the most part eating a mostly vegetable diet, yadda yadda (like I have to explain it here) and to be here and see such mass consumption and disregard not only for fellow humans but for the Earth is so odd.

What is really cool, though, is watching the ocean worship!  Everyone just standing at the shores playing and in awe of something so much greater than they are.  I keep thinking of the goddess Sedna - especially when we see the dolphins swim by - it reminds me of the balance of the Earth and the give and take of life.  Anyway...

revolting- big hugs to you, my friend, i hope this month turns around for you.  dang cars!  i had mine stolen a few years ago and what a pain in the hiney!

happy birthday to Aubergine, Millie, Heckedy and all the August-born mamas!!!  partytime.gif

i love hearing about everyone's healthy goals for their lifestyles.  I think I gained everyone's weight while here.  (and enjoyed every dang hershey kiss/m&m I devoured!!)

And Maia- yes, my name is after the onion...and the sammy kershaw song.  My dad and I were traveling together in 1996 and we heard the song whose protagonist is named Vidalia.  It begins "ain't nothing so precious as a first born child" and goes on to talk about how vidalia always makes the boys cry and gave one kid hell because they picked on her name... and my dad said that the song always reminded him of me  (true).  So, I asked him how we'd spell it and it became my "handle" as they called internet nicknames back in the day.  *phew* that was a long explanation. Also, I'm with everyone else - love the hair.

Happy Friday and enjoy the full moon!  I've read about some of you putting water out for the full moon and was wondering if anyone could tell me what you do with it/the significance for you/ how you do it.  I hope that makes sense.Sheepish.gif

I scanned the thread but there's no way I can seperate everything out!  LOL

So wow on the ink and hugs for the crappy month and hopes for a better balance and huzzah for the birthdays and yummy drinks/youtube vids for those in need!

Pennsic was ablast, though challenging as ever.  DH had a work project to finish so he holed up in the car and worked online while I tried to keep the kiddos occupied for the first two days.  It kinda sucked.  And then the car battery died right as DH fnished and was about to take me on the long promised, relaxing, "ride in air conditioned car".  :(  We were able to call the Watch and get a jump and make it to Walmart to get a new battery.  But it was a pain.  And then DH lost his wallet, which added some stress!  But it all smoothed out and we had three really good days.  We did leave a little earlier than planned (Thursday night instead of Friday morning) because I was having serious BH contractions that just would not stop.  Which meant that we missed Clan Gather (when all the members of our household gather for drinking, talking, bonfire, reconnect, etc) and the Field Battle (500+ warriors, one big field, lay on!).  But we got to do just about everything else on our Pennsic Do list.  :)  I got a belly henna, the girls got to attend some belly dance classes, we found some wonderful things at the Merchant area (charms for the kiddos, a neat rune mug for DH, a house goblin for us all, a cd of cool music by a female piper... which is dd1's dream instrument, and the two of them got to talk about bagpipes...earrings for me, little gifts for the people who watched our home/animals, and reconnect time with friends.  Pictures here.  I wanted to go to a few classes, but really, we did the big stuff and had fun.

Now to keep doing laundry, prepare for our houseguest invasion (in an hour or so), and get some sleep!

Didn't we have a discussion about the word witch recently?  I think Unschoolma brought it up and how or if we identify ourselves with that term? I remember my response about how I use that term for me in that it means something different than the super dark, goth-y image that some individuals might envision.

I wonder how much of that holds true in culture today? I.e. a witch is dark, goth like and etc...  cus I kind of find that sole image to be limiting once you learn more about the spirituality of the goddess.

T'was me indeed! My relationship with the witch title has been a long and winding one. For me? I had to come to terms with the fact that there are always going to be those people who will panic at the term and associate it with either Satanism or angsty young people looking for a show off outlet. I had to know myself and let those people think what they will. My behavior needs to show a positive image of witchcraft and Paganism, and that will be enough for me, kwim? It's such a loaded word! lol

This.

I am really kind of a soccer-mom type (well, baseball mom, but...). I drive a Subaru wagon. I wear mostly black stretchypants with big tops, or now that I'm smaller, I'm experimenting with jeans again, and Tshirts. And sneakers. And I still wear long flowy dresses sometimes. But now I also have two dresses that are short (well, knee length) and that actually fit and aren't huge. I used to look all gothy, and I'm still very much the goth inside, to a degree-- although I'm very, very upbeat and outgoing, I don't think that will ever go away. I have, though, come to the conclusion that even though I don't think I look anywhere near my age, it'd be silly for a 51yo woman to walk around looking gothy. Plus, what you said about showing a positive image. If I'm the only Witch anyone ever meets, I represent ALL of you, and I believe it's my duty to do it right.

If I can find it, I have an essay that goes around on the 'net every Halloween, amongst Witchy types, that tells the origin of the green-faced hag, that it came from women who were beaten down and tortured during the burning times. It really is a thought-provoker. If I can find it, I will repost. If I'm allowed. I don't know the origin of it.

My MIL died this morning. I'm still in shock. We spent several hours with her yesterday and, while we knew it was coming, didn't think it would be a matter of hours. She was lucid and talking yesterday. The whole family was there, so that was good. Still trying to wrap my head around this...

Just a Hello from under my rock...

I'm feeling low, not chatty at all and I'm no fun to be with at the moment... I'm tired of planning fun things and have to cancel at the last moment... this have been the story of this summer and it's getting old. DH is unhappy with my reaction when he showed me an hotel this morning and suggested we go there for a few days... It looks good and the kids would have fun but I can't get excited about "vacation"... I won't beleive it's true till I'll be there...

Thoughts are with those who are dealing with loss and low mood! I hear ya for sure. I lost my oldest, closest friend in early July quite unexpectedly. She was in ill health, but we didn't know she was nearing the end of this life. She was 8 days from turning 39 years old. Her funeral was an absolute tragedy, and that combined with all the handfasting busyness has prevented me from embracing and experiencing her death and my grief. Many hugs to you that need it.

Clay, your pictures are awesome! I wanna share some handfasting pics. Can I paste them here?

Val - hug2.gif for you in this moment

Unschoolnma - wheeee pictures!!

Clay - Goregous pictures of pennsic - the belly henna looked amazing!  Peaceful vibes for this week and fingers crossed for a baby soon!

Maia - thank you for the link to that essay, DH read it last night and was moved.

Busy getting pictures up on walls and a bit of nesting done thanks to the amazing full moon energy.   Though flip side - it was a bit too much for my DH to handle and he had a small breakdown last night in trying to get his new computer together combined with a small onslaught of flies invading our house.  It was a bit scary to see him in so much distress over these things greensad.gif Good news - he is back to himself today after a good night sleep (where I ordered him to a hot shower & bed last night).  Phew it was a doozy though.

With the house I have a quirky idea which DH just signed off on - I'm going to decorate our main living room wall with some of decorated small bird houses the boys have painted & then hang a couple of signs there with the following quote: Do you believe in fairies? Say quick that you believe. If you believe, clap your hands! --James M. Barrie

I'm rather excited and hopefully I can get it done this week after work & post pictures once it's complete.

I hope everyone is having a wonderful monday and easing into this week with grace & joy!

hey all, mediation went sort of well.  I really don't feel comfy posting publicly about what went on, but it's ok.  pm me if you know me a bit and want to talk more. or message me on facebook. Basically, it ended after several hours, with him still planning on taking me to court.  But I was close to signing away pretty much everything that he wanted and I feel that court will be the same or better situation for us.  Definitely not worse.

So, it's still ongoing, but I feel it will be ok.  There is some major stress with some of the things he wants, but ...  I guess stress is going to keep coming at me. I'm trying to let it roll and not let it tie me up in knots.

sigh.

Heckedy-Marcelle- I'm sorry for your loss, but I wish you all peace and comfort in this time of change. <3

Clay- I love all the pics from Pennsic!  You have one adorable little family, and an adorable huge belly!

Heckedy, I'm so sorry about your MIL.  I wish her a quick and peaceful journey.

Clay, I can't wait to see baby pics!  Remind me, how old is your other small?  I envy you your trip to Pennsic.  I have a friend who goes every year with her husband and daughter, and she has so much fun I wish I could go too, but I'm not in SCA.

Millie, I'll continue praying that everything goes smoothly for you.

Thanks for all the congrats and the good wishes - I'm starting the buying process on a piece of land tomorrow.  I'll be calling a real estate agent in the area first thing in the morning so we have representation.  We found our perfect home, now we just need to get our claws into it before someone else does!

Well. My house in Real Estate Weekly is getting lots of views but nobody's leaving contact information. They need to come SEE the house in person to appreciate it! I need vibes for lots of showings soon! And an offer!

DS's school orientation and potluck is this afternoon. Tomorrow's his first full day of school. I am so ready for a couple of days to myself! Ooooh, the quiet...but I am not looking forward to the comparative angst and noise of the bookend times.

He is not happy about his prospective schedule this year: homework every day instead of weekly, and lots less time to himself-- I have already gone over that the more he complies and buckles down and makes the afternoon/evening process go smoothly, the more the afternoon/evening process will go smoothly, kwim? As in-- it's his call. But I know him well. He will tantrum and take for-bloody-ever to do his homework and balk and push back and resist, and it will be a hellish process for a good while. I hope to God I'm wrong, but I know my kid pretty well greensad.gif Let's hope he grows up some this year, and stops the damn tantruming fingersx.gif

They've said that there's about 20 minutes of math homework every night. I had to clarify that to ds that it doesn't mean we can set the timer for 20 minutes and he gets to stop, wherever he is in the process. I had to say that no, he has to do ALL of it, and they're estimating it should take about 20 minutes. IF he complies and buckles down and actually puts his nose to the grindstone! Silly  boy.

So I have tix to go see M on the 1st, through the 6th. I'm kind of annoyed because my usual caregiver agreed to watch ds, and then out of nowhere she calls me to say that Friday the 2nd she can't have him overnight at all, because out of the blue she has a chance at a thing that's sort of an audition, at a bar, and it's her only chance. I'm thinking---well, you should have said "I'm committed and we need to reschedule"-- nothing is ever "the only chance". Luckily I have a couple of backup ideas-- hopefully. Because I'm already going to be in MA, what is she going to do, leave my ds with nowhere to stay? GRRR.

M says I should be more forgiving because sometimes things come up and things change. I'm trying. But I'm still really annoyed.

ETA: the time before that, when I talked to her, she asked for more money. I agreed, and to put in a bit of money for gas to go back and forth to her house from mine, which is about 45m. But should I pay her for that Friday if she doesn't have him? It's only an overnight and she would be dropping him off and picking him up at whoever keeps him that night. But gawd, I'm annoyed, and I don't think I should. Thoughts?

That said, I'm SO excited to see M again luxlove.gif I just wish it was for permanent and not another bloody visit.

That tattoo is really bitchin'! We are really wanting some new ink, but the magic money tree continues to elude. Sneaky lil' bastard. treehugger.gif

So let's see if I can get some photos from the handfasting to show up here. Smudge.JPGCircle.JPGBubSmudge.JPGTied2.JPGHandfastingparty1.JPG

I'm so very sorry for your loss.

Sorry you are feeling down, Valerie.  I hope you can manage to get away for a few days.
