This is starting to creep me out.  We got a little snow (4 inches or so) and some very cold weather and now we have had 50 for the last two days.  Spring thaw in Jan. after  about 1 week of winter.  weird.

That is weird!  Where we live we never get winter.  We are in central California in the bay area and the arctic front keeps us about the same temp all year round.  The coldest the high has been was about 49, the hottest I have seen was 80 but that was only one day last April.

I think we had over 50" of snow  by this time last year.   This year we have had maybe 3".  This is a lot of our water supply for the year which is a crisis unto itself.  The way it look and feels like spring out there...that is just weird.

Time will tell about all this weather stuff....

Do you ladies do anything special for VAL day? I'm thinking about doing something about Jesus' love for us.(for my boys)

Also any verses that you like....I like to read from the SONG OF SOLOMON. I LOVE Song of Solomon 8:6-7.

Set me like a seal on your heart, like a seal on your arm; for love is as strong as death, passion as cruel as Sh'ol;

it flashes are flashes of fire,

(as fierece as the) flame of YAH.

No amount of water can quench love,

torrents cannot drown it.

Hey Ladies,

I have been MIA.  First I had a milk blister which caused a plugged duct that turned into mastitis, the baby had a stomach virus and then the other kids and I got it.  It has been a rough week.  Thankfully it seems we are all on the mend.

We also talk about the mild winter we have been having.  Unfortunately, we were not able to really enjoy those really warm days a few days ago b/c we were ill.

I like the name Sadie, BTW.

Names from the bible - Gabriel.  Can be Gabrielle for a girl.

I have not heard of "The Story."  I tried to get the Case for Christ on Amazon - we watch movies on Amazon on demand but you have to actually buy the DVD not just get ot on demand.  So, I am waiting for it to arrive.

Our church is trying to start a new worship service geared towards 20-30 somethings.  Please pray that we are able to reach those who are unchurched or minimally churched.

What do you think of Joel Osteen?  I have friends who LOVE him and I have watched some of his messages on TV  and they are very inspiring, but they do not seem very biblical.  Well, as I was laying in bed a few nights ago I saw him on an Oprah show (dont like oprah but wanted to see him) and he said that he felt that he didnt need to read all the scripture from the bible, that taking a passage and telling stories about it was enough.  That was just one little thing, and I didnt get to see it all because I fell asleep, but I just wanted to get your take on him - if you have one.  I think his way of preaching is better for motivation and not for preaching the Word of God.  But, that is JMO.

We dont ever do much for v-day.  We make v-day cards for their family and friends, and do a craft, but that is it.  But, I like your idea to do something for the boys about Jesus' love.   I may steal that Idea.

Glad that you are all on the mend.

I think that Joel Osteen is a life coach that uses the Bible. So sad.

e&tsmom- I am glad y'all are feeling better.   As for Joel Osteen, I don't know much about him.  We don't have cable.

We got Dd's copy of The Story in yesterday. I really like it, and we are going to read a chapter a day (per my Dd's request).  The pictures are great and it still gets the picture across but in terms Dd understands.

Speaking of books has anyone read Francine Rivers new series Her Mothers Hope/Her Daughters Dream?  I just finished Her Mother's Hope and absolutely loved it.  I love pretty much anything by Francine Rivers, though.  I liked the story even better when I found out she had written based on the relationships between her great-grandmother, grandmother, mother, and herself.

I agree.  But, he has such a following.  His church is huge.  He seems like a super friendly, nice guy, but misleading, ya know.

John16  - I have never read Francine Rivers.  I have such a long list of things I want to read.  But, I just checed out her webpage and her books seem right up my alley.  I'll add them to my list - hope i get to them!

We are on the mend, but home from school again today.  Not super fun being sick, but it has been nice being with the big kids.  I sent the baby to a sitter so he owuldnt get sick again.  On the downside, my supply has tanked due to being sick.  I hope everything will go back to normal.  When the baby was at the sitter yesterday and today I pumped only one ounce!!!  But, he was able to nurse though the night so I guess we are doing okay.  I am tryin to drink all I can but it is hard.  I need some food with calories, but nothing sounds good.  But, the big kids look and seem much, much better.  Ds just asked for meatballs, so I guess he really is doing better.

I was thinking about these verses today:

Love covers all things...suffers all things. 1 COR 13:7

Bear one another's burdens. GAL 6:2

Suffer one another in love. EPH 4:2

We need prayers...

I feel so lost right now. DH is in school and working full time and there was no way for me to work too since I have to take care of DD. God told me to get pregnant several times and I kept fighting (long story) He told me the baby would be born in May and of course who won that battle? So I'm due May 9th. We were low income to start with (which was my reason for not wanting to get pregnant) but now as I am nearing my due date things are getting worse....

The cut DHs hours by a bit and took away his time and a half Sundays..which lowers our income by $200 a month. So net pay is only $1500 a month now. Our food stamps worker is ridiculous and hasn't even put that I am pregnant on our benefits yet and we are only receiving $162 a month for food. DD was just diagnosed with food allergies and now several cheap foods we ate are out...

We have a ton of debt but have been surviving off the credit card since I was laid off almost 3 years ago...we have reached the limit now and only have $400 left on our credit card.

We are getting OK taxes back but I have to pay the MW and our only car needs new tires immediately. We are behind on bills and just getting caught up we will have nothing left of that.

I do trust God to provide for us but I can't help but feel overwhelmed with the fact we can't pay our bills or gas for the car or even food really right now. I'm really scared with the new baby on the way. DH does graduate in May but we have to come up with the money for him to take his test and get his license before he can get hired anywhere. I just really need some help right now...

Sosurreal - Wow, that is tough.  I am praying for you and your family.  Stay on top of your social worker.  Not just for food stamps but any other aid you may qualify for.  The baby is a game changer and just because you were rejected before doesn't men you do not qualify now.  Especially with your husbands change in income.

And if everyone could keep Alena and her family in your prayers, I would appreciate it.  She has mentioned off and on that her mother has cancer but you can never tell with her family what is really going on (they tell that poor kid all kinds of crap).  She just came by and told me her mom is not expected to make it through the week, possibly not even the night.  They all live at grandmas house and she said her gma is handling things poorly (and who wouldn't under the circumstances.  Also A's older brothers are not able to make it home.  the whole situation is so sad.   Despite the craziness in her family she is a sweet little girl with great outlook on life.

i enjoyed her studies but now that I am more educated I think her theories and stuff she teaches as fact is often way off.  I am not sure what her education is or where she gets her information.  But a lot of it is just plain misinterpretations and random theories.  nothing based in actual history.

Alena's mom died Wednesday night.  While it won't effect her day to day life (her mom did not have custody.  She was a raging alcoholic in and out of prison)

it has got to mess with you to watch your mom die.  So please continue praying for this little girl.

I feel for Alena. It is something I know all to well.

Beth Moore- I'm not going to do the study. I don't have many friends and I was hoping to make friends in this church (or at least try) but it is not worth "sitting under" someone that maybe teaching something wrong.

JUST SOMETHING----Whitney Houston is going to be buried tomorrow in my friends "backyard".....Crazy.

dovemama-Nice to meet you. Just jump in.

Hope everyone is having a great day. I'm counting down to my b-day....last year I did NOT GET one card. I was so sad. Do people send cards anymore? I do if I know it is your b-day I will send a card. Also a thank you card if I get a gift. I think that it is wrong not to say thanks.
