I went to the women's bible study. They are studying James Mercy Triumphs by Beth Moore

I was in a nice small group. I think I will try to go back.

Studying James. The thing about Ms. Moore that I don't like is the way she talks about us JEWS. Sometimes I don't get why she says what she says.

Example - " James wrote this letter not as a Jewish Christian BUT as a Christian Jew..." Well he is a believer in Yeshua. I would not say LilChunklins is writting as a Gentile Chirstian -v- Christian Gentile :dizzy

I know that it not only Beth Moore that does this. BUT she does this A LOT more then most.

I understand your frustration but I halfway see her point. I don't think she means to be offensive. I think she's using the christian Jew phrase as to describe he is indeed a Jew, but has given his life to the Lord. Whereas jewish christian is like almost being of 2 religions. Both jewish and christian are adjectives. Christian jew is an adjective and a noun. If that makes sense.
That being said, I wouldn't think twice about how I phrased it, follower of Christ is a follower of Christ, ya know.
How about James is writing as the half brother of his Savior? That's something that the other books cannot make claim of!

Personally, I love the book of James! Let me know how the study goes!

So last night wwe had a praise report at church! Its a really cool story!
A man who used to come to our church came and visited the pastor yesterday. His son was such a bad alcoholic, like extremely bad. Well, the son was out on the street and 2 giant men approached him. They told him that they were messengers sent from the Lord to show him where he's going, this is his last chance to change. He said they held their hands together and then spread them open, as they did this, a portal to hell was opened, and he saw people he knew... So he turned and ran away, he was terrified! But about 20 feet down the road he fell down. The angels came over to him again, and told him not to be afraid of them but of God.
So he went home and dumped out all his alcohol and hasn't drank since. Which that in and of itself is a miracle. He was the type of man that was such a severe alcoholic that he could have died from detox like that.

So that is just amazing to me.

Nope. That's funny though huh, they have little songs for most of the other popular stories.
I had some topic I wanted to discuss earlier, I can't remember what is was now... hate it when that happens!

I was thinking a bit more about the whole jewish christian vs christian Jew thing. What was her point by differentiating? I've been trying to figure out what signifigance there is in flip flopping the terms. Sometimes it can change the meaning.. like if I used the term, baby man, I would most likely be saying something cutesy at a baby boy. But if I said man baby, I would be saying something offensive toward a grown man. I've been pondering on her specifying term flipping. What was the point? Or did she even have one?

The curiousity is getting to me. If she purposely said as a christian Jew and not a jewish christian, I would assume that was the introduction to a point she was making. So what could that point be???
If she just threw that out there without any point, then I would seriously have to rethink how I feel about her. Because why even bother saying something like that if there's no point?
I really doubt she was trying to be offensive, but out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. So what's in her heart that's needing to randomly say such contraversial things? Ya know...

OK! I have a few mins. To my mother (raised Jewish) She is 1st a Jew then a Christian. She is a Messianic Jew. A believer in Jesus. To many of the Jewish believers that I "hang" with they would say the same.

I'm going to ask the leader of the study if she knows more about what Moore is trying to say. I think that the way the church looks at the faith they see it as a gentile faith. It is truly like Joseph's brother NOT knowing that it is him. WHY? Because he is wearing make-up. Like Jesus looking gentile. Yeshua is Jewish and never gave that up. The New coveant is given to the house of Jacob. Most people don't want to hear that. We are Jew and gentile one in Messiah.

I think that it is great that your Bible study wants to study that out. :thumb

Sorry for mistakes-- kids

I did a bit of googling on this and it seems like what she means is, he is hoping to reach jews and spread the gospel to them. I wish I could post the link but I can't with my phone. I still don't see the significance of flip flopping terms.

I guess it gets perceived as a gentile faith because there are a lot of Jews who don't believe Jesus is the messiah.
There are some who do recognize Christ.

DH is not very fond of Beth Moore. Or too many popular teachers for that matter. There is a high trend of taking 98% truth and then adding just a little bit of deception or twisting around of doctrine. He always uses this example- if I have a glass of pure filtered water, absolutely 100% pure, and then I add just one drop of raw sewage, the whole thing is corrupted! This is how teachings in the church are today. Almost completely truth except for that one drop. It makes it really hard to discern good sound teachings especially for new believers. But since the Holy Spirit is the teacher when a red flag goes up like this, even if we can't pin point the error, its there. We might not always recognize it right away... but when discernment is saying, something isn't kosher here, we do well to heed that. The deep speaks to the deep.

That audio was just a guy explaining what is "wrong" with Ms. Moore.

I was thing about Miryam El'azar's (Lazarus) sister today. She had her brother die. She sends word to Jesus. She must be thinking "where is He?" Why would he not come? I'm in pain. THEN Jesus does come and he prayer for all to hear. AND she gets her brother back. He is back to life. Amazing Joy most of filled her heart.

Then soon after Miryam has Jesus over for dinner. (meal to celebrate) And what does she do? She pours out oil on His feet. She is preparing Jesus for death. (very expensive gift for worship and thanks)

The very next day Jesus enters Jerusalem (10Th of Nisan) the chosen Passover Lamb. Coming into the house of the Lord to be inspected.

Just something to chew on. Blessings

Super busy day here. We had LOs 1st Birthday party today. His real Bday is Monday. He had a blast! He got to eat his 1st cupcake, which he loved. It was such a mess lol MIL actually came, that was a real surprise! But she didn't stay very long, and she kept calling the baby by one of my other son's names, that was annoying. But whatever, I guess its hard to remember someone's name who you barely know.
The baby is closer to our church family than our blood. He's grown up seeing all of them multiple times a week. Its like a large extended family to him. My other kids grew up around our blood so its been much harder on them, they were super excited to see their nana.

Awesome! I hope you have a wonderful evening!
How funny it was that you mentioned the story of the woman you washed and anointed Jesus' feet. My pastor taught on that today. His perspective was this, the perfume was so expensive that it probably cost her about a years wages. That pretty much makes it her treasure. Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. So she took all her treasures from this life, all her worldly treasures and poured them out on her Savior's feet. This act is symbolic of true repentance. Everything I have aquired in this world is not my treasure. You are my treasure Jesus!

Also the man who had been visited by angels gave testimony today. His story was different from what we initially heard. He was actually at home and first, 2 demons came to him. He said he could see them just like you see a fleshly person. They spoke with him and had him convinced that he was going to hell, there was no hope for him, and so he doesn't have to bother changing. Then one says to the other demon "Did you hear that?" The other one answers and says he did and they should leave! That's when the two giant angels showed up. They told him that God is fed up with him, He doesn't want to deal with him anymore and is ready to turn His face away. But Jesus was begging His Father, with tears running down His face to give this man just one more chance!
It was really powerful!

I took my kids to see that movie last night. I didnt pick up on all that. I was chasing the baby ALL AROUND the theater though.. I actually thought the movie was really lame from what I did see of if. The robot guys eerily resembled zombies, which I was not too keen on. I dont know. I guess I would have to really watch it again closely to see if I agree with that. I dont understand how frozen was theological either. If anything that movie had more witch craft in it than your average disney movie. In the first 10 mins they snuck a witch's spell post with all the ribbons (I forget what its called. DH knows the term tho.) It was just casually erected as decor in the town! I really dont think I can buy any theological themes in that movie.

I did not see the movie. I want to go see it. Mocking Bird has an interesting way of looking at media. Some times they do get thing right.

Chunk- Do you have any plans for the week? I want to chill out this week. We are doing some science things with water and snow. Today we went out and collected lots and lots of snow. So much fun. :hs

Hi ladies! I'm a Christian SAHM of two! I would like to join in on the thread as it doesn't seem like there are many Christian moms on the site! I haven't time to read through all the comments yet, but I did read through some. I am fat from having all the answers but I would like to point out there is a lot if " opinion" it seems and we must remember it's not about our opinion but his word. I'm not stepping on toes I just felt the need to say that. Hope I'm not offending..... I would like to join in conversation and fellowship if I'm welcomed!

Welcome :joy nice to meet you.

Yes, lots of opinions BUT HIs word. I think that we like to talk about different things. If we meet under Messiah then we are one body.

I am a SAHM of 3 kids 8,5, almost two. I have been a believer for 36 years and still growing and learning. Blessing to you

Thanks so much.... I'm a younger Christian. Dabbled back and forth but been truly saved for about four or five years now! I really started diving in looking for meaning when my oldest was born and she's five. I found a church that I really got involved in and through my FIL and friends in the church I really was brought to The Lord. Didn't really have "a moment" if you know what I mean. I was more like a year of getting closer and closer and giving more if myself over to him! I guess that's a life long process though huh? Lol
