How it always happens, Hayden's jumping on the bed, the topics of discussions changing with his positions; from the stereo headphone hookups to dinner requests to his sister... Then comes the biggie:
H) Mama, who made God?
M) Who do *you* think made God?
H) I dunno
M) You'll have to ask Him when you meet
H) Oh, we already meeted
M) Did you ask?
H) No, I didn't think of it
M) Well, you can ask him now
H) Nah, God is Dead
M) (shocked silence)
H) That's how He got to Heaven
M) Really?
H) Yeah.... (jump, jump, jump) I think God made Himself; then he made Heaven so he won't be so lonely.

Hello All!

My nephew was five or six when he turned to his parents out of the blue one day and asked, "If God made evryone, who made God?" They were astounded, as they do not practice any faith, nor do they talk about any particular faith. I don't remember what their answer was. I just remember being astounded at the natural spirituality of this child, and thinking what a shame his natural spirituality wasn't being nurtured. My brother and his wife are good people who live morally, God just doesn't enter the picture in any way as far as I know.
