I don't know if this belongs here but it seemed like an apropriate (sp?) place.

Tonight we were running some errends and as we were walking htrough the parking lot my dd could here the guy from the salvation army ringing his bell. She looked up and said "Daddy that bell just makes me want to throw some money in his pot!" Of course we both started digging frantically for change so that both the girls could "throw some mooney in that pot".

I don't know maybe you had to be there. Maybe you just have to know dd who isn't usually moved to part with money once it is in her posession. Anyway, made my night

The truest answer to violence is love. The truest answer to death is life. The only prevention for violence is for the heart to have no violence within it.  We cannot prevent evil through any system devised by mankind. But we can grapple with evil and defeat it, but only with love—real love.

My daughter put some money in the pot too, but at this age she is more than willing to part with my money.

Makes me think of Pavlov's dog. I have a hard time donating to whoever shouts the loudest. I make a point of researching first and extending myself in the direction I feel most moved by. I almost never give to the phone caller or door ringer. Though when it's a neighbor's kid raising money for something, their school, a charity, I can't really say no.

I love the salvation army here. They are so generous with what they are given. The bells just make it feel like Christmas.
