I'm loving the similarities I am seeing in our lives. The modesty and submission are 2 points I've been reading on today.

It seems that we are the same more than I would have ever realized. I'd like to explore it more.

Yes. I got that wakeup-call when i saw the thread on Biblical marriage.

We are more alike, we are The People of the Books... Ahl ul Kittab, as they say in Arabic/in the Quran.

Mother of three little muslims!

Not intending to rain on the love-in, but there's no connection between Jewish marriage and submission.

The modesty issue, that I'll give you.

Islamic marriage requires submission to God from both partners. Beyond that, well that's between each individual couple, but not a commandment.

I think if you asked my Muslim dh if I was submissive, his reaction might be something like this: : However, I do try to respect him, and I do think (from lurking on the biblical marriage threads), that many people say "submit," when they mean "respect."

But the OP's observation on the similarities between the Abrahamic religions is well-taken. I often think part of my problem in choosing a religion is because they are so similar! I love them all!

I think this is especially true theologically speaking if you have a liberal view of Christianity (such as Marcus Borg).

The modesty issue is the first one I noticed. It really piqued my curiosity about other things we may have in common.

Keep in mind I live in the middle of redneck america. I have never had the opportunity to talk to someone IRL that isn't Christian. OK- I probably have without knowing, but never been able to have a conversation.
