for moms... I am christian but I don't absolutely have to have a christian book. I need something to center myself with in the morning before the kids wake, to help me get going on the right foot and too add to my prayer time.

Thanks!

You could try the books by Max Lucado or Anthony DiMello. Anthony DiMello has one called Sadhanna: The Way to God which I used alot for meditation years ago.

Deepak Choprahs 7 spiritual laws books are really good. You can choose one law for each day of the week and meditate on it. They have the 7 spiritual laws of success and I'm pretty sure there is one for parents.

Also Thich Nhat Hanh's Miracle of Mindfulness. He is so loving, and anything by him is wonderful!

Dear Geogirl, Oswald Chambers' classic, My Utmost for His Highest, is fabulous. It has a short reflection on a Bible verse for every day of the year. It only takes a few minutes to read every day but it will impact you enormously, taking you into the mysterious truths of God and into the deeper Christian life.

Oh, Geogirl, I just realized that you were looking for a devotional specifically for mothers.

Max Lucado's Traveling Light for Mothers is a good one.

Motherprayer, by Tikvah Frymer-Kensky, is a book of prayers and rituals for pregnant women and brand-new moms. She did a lot of historical research and found Jewish, Catholic and ancient Sumerian (polytheistic/pagan) prayers and amulets women used for fertility, successful pregnancy and labor. She also wrote some of her own. Might not be exactly what you want, but it's pretty cool.

Divorced mom of one awesome boy born 2-3-2003.
