CAIRO - Egypt’s famed King Tutankhamun suffered from a cleft palate and club foot, likely forcing him to walk with a cane, and died from complications from a broken leg exacerbated by malaria, according to the most extensive study ever of his mummy.

You know, I love Egyptology. I also am a huge fan of Hawass. However, I think that they're really trying to answer questions that we may never know the answers to and we shouldn't hold these studies as absolute fact, but more as possibilities as to what MAY have happened. I just think it's the way the article is presented. Obviously, the fact that he had a club foot/cleft palate wouldn't be disputed or that he had a broken leg.
**I will fully admit I DVR'ed close to 6 hrs on DC yesterday.

Hawass is actually a pretty controversial figure in Egypt, which really surprised me. Several historians believe he's trying to present theories as answers and is trying to drum up tourism. Don't get me wrong, when he said he'd discovered Hapsetshut's (sp?) body, I was glued to the TV!!

I must say that this is how I felt when watching the show. Sometimes I have a hard time watching these shows because they do reenactments based on theory and present them as fact. All in all though I think that the amount of evidence that they found is impressive and I am intrigued by King Tut's life story.
