Strange as it may sound, I'll remember her most for doing to voice of Maggie Simpson that one time.
If it looks like I'm trying to pick a fight... I'm not, I'm rarely that obvious.
As iconic as she was, I have to say I'm surprised that she was only 79. I remember her presenting the Best Picture Oscar to Gladiator in 2001, and she had so much trouble with the card and the prompter and everything that I thought she was a very old woman at the time, but she was only 69!
I know she's had lots of health (mostly heart, I think?) problems over the years -- maybe that contributed to it. In any case, she was an icon and it's sad that she's passed.
And you gotta love the mutations that gave her violet eyes and two rows of upper eyelashes. Who says mutation is a bad thing?
