Activist Mommas,

What are you doing to celebrate Earth Day this Friday/weekend? Anyone doing anything that includes toddlers? I'm looking for some ideas...

Annick, perhaps you could "GOOGLE" for events occurring in your area? I live in Hamilton, Ontario and my son and I are visiting our harbourfront on Saturday. There is going to be tree planting along the shores of Lake Ontario as well as wagon rides, face painting etc. for the kids. There is actually an all day Earth Day convention/eco festival at our local convention centre too. I'm sure whereever you are, there will be events too. Have a great day!

Our city doesn't do things that celebrate the Earth...why? Because they're a bunch of red-neck, environment hating, oil-drilling, earth-raping morons. (wow...I have issues)...

So Willow, Ken and I will be celebrating Earth Day by ourselves. I'll put my Earth flag out and we'll work in the yard and do Earth-centered things here at the house.

I hope you find things to do!!

Willowsmom, I hope you'll smile or GRIMACE, rather, at the irony. The tree planting I'm attending is sponsored by our local waterfront's Restoration Council as well as SUNOCO! :

If you are close to any Zoos, check them out for Earth Day celebrations. We have 3 in our area and all 3 are doing things like conservation "lectures", meet the animals, "Earth" crafts from natural materials, Reduce/Reuse/Recycle info and "lectures" ALso check out any Audubon Centers, or local Fish and Wildlife Departments or Environmental Departments for events!

No, I am not "celebrating 'Earth Day'".

Every day is Earth Day as far as I am concerned.

The fact that I am still alive is reason enough to celebrate... everyday.

to Willowsmom.

Perhaps living little today is the very best way to celebrate. I'm going to hang the diapers on the line, turn the compost piles and stay out of the car. And maybe write letters to my senators. From the Washington Post today - just in time for Earth Day - "Energy Bill Is Passed By House: Focus Is Production, Not Conservation".

These are frustrating times, indeed!

we're going to a local hemp festival they have every year for earth day. it is great! tons of handmade clothes, jewelry, etc. they have bands and food and it's at the park so the kids can all run around in the fields.

Wow, a hemp festival! That's so progressive

I found a few events happening around here, but there's all neighborhood cleanup efforts. This makes me laugh because Minneapolis is absolutely one of the cleanest cities ever - re: litter, anyway.
