I am interested in where I might find a reasonable alternative to clothing made in China for myself and the children. Of course, I don't have a ton of money to spend, but I would like to know what is out there. So far, I thought that buying used might be the best idea so that I am not directly supporting China's practices, but I am interested if any of you have good sites that carry "fair trade" clothing? I was pretty disgusted to notice that Babylegs have a logo on them "Made with Love in China" Uhhhh, yeah, I'm sure there's a lot of love going into the products under those conditions. Geez.

homebirthing organic mama to three crazy boys very blessed!!

www.incakids.org carries not only kids apparel and accessories for the whole family but also artisan toys that are safe to play with and chew! They are made of wool or cotton.

I have not bought new clothes in ages because I want my next jeans to be fair. unfortunately (but understandably) it's all quite expensive...
I'm just listing some fairwear shops here

no sweat apparel

fair indigo

and here's a list with mailorders. the last list is just a "green" directory but often the shops list if they are fair.

I have not ordered from any of these, so I don't know about the quality. no sweat is pretty popular among young people I believe.

also, there are sometimes fair clothes in health food stores or ads for them.

eta: just google, there's loads of hits.
