Explains the issues behind the torture of women in the Congo. Talks about how the huge demand for cell phones is fueling the problem. I will use my cell phone until it falls apart, then I will make sure it is recycled responsibly. My husband was just given a fancy new cell phone at work for no reason--his old one was just fine. I'm trying to convince him to give it back.

I've read in other articles about the torture of women in the Congo--it's worse torture than I could ever imagine. If you can get fired up about a cause and issue without learning the gory details, then I suggest you avoid those articles.

You can make a small difference simply by keeping your cell phone way past the point of it becoming embarrasingly old.
