6. Is it mentioned in more than one book? i believe it is. definitely not in all the books, and most heavily mentioned in one particular book, but i'm almost positive it makes an appearance in at least one other book too.

Oh, sorry. I meant specific as in Daily Prophet instead of just a newspaper or news source (since there are multiple in the wizarding world).

Not to be an HP snob (even though I admit I am), Harry never throws the paper into the fire, that's only a movie moment that Warner Bros. added (or Kloves, since he was the sreenwriter).

Back to our regularly scheduled program...

"Appearance" as in literally or mentioned...

Let's ignore this one, LOL.

OK, your answer to #9 is completely confusing me. I thought SAHDS was asking "is the object the Goblet of Fire?" Or was she asking "is the object mentioned in the 4th book of the series?"

You don't need to answer both questions since I think she only asked one, but could you clarify which one you answered?

I was guessing the GoF but was confused as to what she meant by "appearance". I think she answered it as saying that it's not the GoF but it does make a literal appearance in the books.

Since we're clarifying, though, when do these answers take place? I mean, like Ruthla's question, what do we consider a Hogwarts student? Harry? Even though he's not a Hogwart's student after HBP. Or would we consider McGonagall a student since she went to Hogwarts... ?

Should we just count DH, pre-crapilogue?

I was thinking that the definition of Hogwarts Student is somebody who attended Hogwarts during the time Harry was a student; this includes those older than him (who were students when he was younger and then they graduated) as well as those his year and those younger than him (who started on as First Years when Harry was an older student.)

There weren't too many adults in the series who DIDN'T go to Hogwarts.

OK... eating dinner. sorry for the confusion.

i meant that the object was not the goblet of fire. and that the object does appear - not just merely mentioned but actually seen. and it is seen by Harry, though he is not the only one.

as for the student thing, i think that's usually clarified by the person answering. like if it were a person like Percy Weasley, and someone asked if they were a student, you'd answer that they were a student for part of the series but not all.

but the item in question is not owned by a person considered a Hogwart's student at any point in the series, though it is likely the person did attend at some point.

HA HA, okay.

Hmmm...

My guess is Moody's eye.

My question is:

Was the owner ever a professor?

2. Is it a place? No
3. Is it a magical object? Yes
4. Can it fit inside a shoebox? Yes
5. Is it pivotal to the plot of any of the books? Interesting question... I would have to say no.
6. Is it mentioned in more than one book? i believe it is. definitely not in all the books, and most heavily mentioned in one particular book, but i'm almost positive it makes an appearance in at least one other book too.
7. Is it at Hogwart's? It's been to Hogwart's, but it's not regularly there.
8. Is it a unique object (one-of-a-kind)? Yes, i'm pretty certain it is.
9. Goblet of Fire/"Appearance" as in literally or mentioned... ? the object is not the goblet of fire, and the object did make a literal appearance
10. Was it a Horcrux? No

14. Does it belong to someone from Fleur's school? No

15. Does it belong to "a bad guy" (either a Death Eater or Voldemort himself)? No. but the person it belongs to is not exactly what i'd call "good" either. self-serving, really.

16. Is it Wormtail's silver hand? Nope

another hint - this object is something the person uses in order to do their job.
