Absolutely beautiful. Absolutely inspiring. Please post this in Lactivism.

However, part of the segment was too much for me to handle...be forewarned, there is a death in this video. It made me cry pretty badly.

“But [breastfeeding a baby for two years in Sierra-Leone] is rare. The reason? Men urge their wives to quickly stop breast-feeding because of cultural mores that forbid sexual intercourse with breast-feeding women."

It's not that the stay-at-home-parent gets to stay home with the kids. The kids get to stay home with a parent. Lucky Mom to DD1 (4 y) and DD2 (18 mo), Wife to Mercenary Dad

Wow, that is sad. I heard somewhere that Sierra Leone has the next to highest rate of infant mortality in the world.

This story about SH came out right when I was going to a breastfeeding support group and we were talking about it there. It was discussed that it is normal for lactating women to bf other children--relatives generally--in some cultures but not in others. Interesting. The LC said she was bfed to the age of 4 by 3 different people.
