Our soon to be 3 year old loves to listen to Prokofiev's Peter and the Wolf (particularly as narrated by David Bowie winky.gif). He would listen to it over and over. He also enjoys making up stories to go along with other classical peices. I would love to introduce other compositions; narrated or otherwise. Any suggestions?

I'm not sure if this is exactly what you're looking for, but my girls (and I) love this version of The Velveteen Rabbit narrated by Meryl Streep and set to the piano music of George Winston.

Thank you! We are listening to it now. So far, he is quite pleased. It is a familiar story to him and having music added is lovely. I love Meryl Streep's voice. It makes me a little sleepy...

It makes me sleepy, too!  In fact, we were on a road trip last week and our girls were getting antsy so DH put this on hoping that it would settle them down. The only person who fell asleep was me!

Bernstein had a great series of young people's concerts-- you can find a lot of them on youtube, I think.

The classical kids series aren't compositions, per se, but still great.

We have a great recording of the Boston Landmarks Orchestrra doing an adaptation of Make Way for Ducklings. I can't find a copy on their website though.

Flowers, fairies, gardens, and rainbows-- Seasons of Joy: 10 weeks of crafts, handwork, painting, coloring, circle time, fairy tales, and more!
