My son has recently seen and loved the Back to the Future trilogy and is currently obsessed with time travel in general. He's asking if I know of anymore time travel movies. Anyone know of any other good ones for a 9 year old?

Time After Time.... very 70's. A bit of romance and Jack the Ripper.. but a great tale.

Star Trek The Voyage Home.

Somewhere in Time is probably too romantic and mushy for a nine year old boy.

Time Traveler's Wife.. same thing. Too mushy and sexy for nine year old boy.

Quantum Leap is awesome Tv show in this vein. Find it on DVD or see if your Tivo can cough it up.

Voyagers! A short lived Tv show but great fun and perfect for a boy that age.

Doctor Who! Some episodes might be a little scary, depending on his sensitivities.

Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure and sequels (not sure of the rating, but it's a teen movie, so beware)

There's an ancient animated television show, with a professor and a kid named Davy - but I can't recall (or find) the name of it. I loved it when I was little though. While I was searching, I found out that there is an animated version of the books series, The Time Warp Trio, and that might be worthwhile if you can find it.

I also like the Quantum Leap suggestion. It's available on Netflix now.

Yes, my daughter suggested the Time Warp Trio, too. I didn't think of that.

Time bandits- It is a rather strange movie, but it was one of my favorites when I was about 10.

This is great - thank you so much! I used to love Quantum Leap but had forgotten about it.

Oh, and a great book... Door into Summer by Robert Heinlein .... written before bad language and sex could be put into books.. so its pretty clean.

This is from a while ago but I am the OP and ds and I just watched Time After Time and he really liked it. Said it was very exciting! I was surprised how good it was!

I also got the first season Quantum Leap for him and he liked that, too.

Any ideas where to get Voyagers!? I remember watching that as a kid and think he'd love it but our library doesn't have it nor can I find anything on youtube.

Darn, the only link I could find says it was sold out. Maybe check used dvd places in your area? We have a couple of shops like that here. Or check ebay.... but only buy from someone with good feedback scores. I've gotten burned before.

Glad you liked Time after Time.

I see Voyagers available on Amazon. I'll try to get it soon.

I also want to try Time Bandits - I see it's available at my mom's public library. (She lives in a different city and our library doesn't have it.)

I have watched the first season Dr. Who and did like it. We're on the request list again for our library but it's long! I'll see if ds likes it when we get it again.

My mom has a few of the Time Warp Trio books so I brought the first one home and have been telling ds to try it. He's into a couple of other series right now but hopefully will pick it up soon.

Thanks again!
