this has been on my mind!!!!! ds has been very drawn to the BB books, he just loves them! we try our best to stay awawy from them since he is just three yrs old and the books do not make sense to him. although occasionally we will read one to him, we "learned our lesson" a few days ago....
three days ago at waldenbooks, my ds insited that i read him a BB book about the "gimmies". at some piont in the book, the parents send the brother and sister up to their room. ds has been heartbroken by this idea of the poor bears being sent up to their room and for three days now he says, "no bears go up to their room, i want them to stay down with their mama"...in a very anxious voice,we have been trying to calm him down since that day when we left the book store witha screaming child. ds is a very very very sensetive child and he takes alll of his book very seriously. we have just decided to be even MORE selective in the books we read him. overall, we have been taught by ds that the books to "teach" children about morals, manners, etc blah blah blah are way too confusing at least for our child. he has to have us explain it in our own words, in our own day to day lives for him to get it. for now, we are stuck with trying to explain our way out of the terrible BB book.
