My 4 year old ds absolutely loves Little House in the Big Woods, Little House on the Prairie and Farmer Boy. (I loved the series as a child too.) He's too young for the rest of the series, I think. Today at the library I noticed a whole shelf of new Little House books: Little House in the Ozarks, I think, and lots more.

Are they any good? Or will I read one and get cranky because they it's a pale and shallow imitation of a great series of books?

I have not read them but I've heard they are very similar to the original books. I believe they have the Rose Years and the Caroline years. I think we will read them soon.

I've read them and enjoyed them. I don't think some of them are quite up to par with the originals, but are still a good read.

We have all of them and enjoy them all. Have read them several times and still continue to pick up ones as they come out.

I've read them all....they have the Rose years (her daughter), Caroline years (her mother when she was a little girl), the Charlotte years (her grandmother) AND the Marth years (her grandmother). Here's a link to all of them http://www.littlehousebooks.com/index.html and they're all along the same speed and lines as the originals.

ETA: I see they have a new Laura book too....the lost years.

I have read the Rose years and part of the Caroline years, I thought they were very well done. Why not try some of Louisa May Alcotts books?

We may not have it all together, but together we have it all
