I hated the crying game and american bueaty, but both of those are considered great movies by many.

One person's trash is another person's treasure. I'm with you, for me it was one of the most perfect films I have ever seen. It effected me very deeply for a very long time. As I said, I couldn't leave the theater for crying for 10 minutes straight after the end. I just couldn't stop. It was so terrible and beautiful at the same time.

Glen Garry Glen Ross made my head hurt. I don't think we finished it, we got tired of waiting for something, anything to happen! I'm sure there are more movies that I think are horrible, I just can't think of any right now.

Life of Brian, Irishmommy? Really?

Surely Who's That Girl, Satisfaction, or The Allnighter (starring Susanna Hoffs of the Bangles) has got to be worse than Life Brian. No?

Beloved was HORRIBLE!!
the Beach was awful too.
You guys are bringing up memories of all the horrible movies I have seen in the past.

Yes I am the odd one that did not like American bueaty. Maybe I will have to watch it again, but I was bored stiff. My husband thought kevin Spacey smoking pot was funny, but that's about it. I just thought it was boring, preverted and depressing....

8mm bothered me terribly. I told my husband how that s+M mask freaked me out. He happened to work in a porn/adult movie store at the time, and they sold those freaky masks with the gag balls in them. He was joking around saying he was going to come home one night in one and scare me. I told him if he did I would seriously rip his balls right off. Just thinking about it made me scared S***less.

Someone beat me to it, "Ghost Ship" horrible. And I even saw it at the theatre. I was with a group and majority rule (I voted for Tuck Everlasting and was soundly defeated)

I *hated* Driving Miss Daisey. Hated that movie no point.

And many mentioned.

And I avoided many mentioned because people who cared warned me

I just saw "Spanglish" last night and I think its at least on my top 10 worst, maybe top 5. Absolutely awful. Luckily I saw it with a girlfriend and we just made fun of it the whole time. Horrendous acting...just imagine Adam Sandler trying to act seriously? terrible pacing, it felt like there was absolutley no editing. I was fidgeting in my seat during every scene waiting for it to end. And there was possibility the worst sex scene I've ever seen with Tea leoni & Adam Sandler...it wasn't sexy, it wasn't funny, it was just ridiculous. The only good part was the drunk mother played by Cloris Leachman who has a couple of the only funny scenes in the movie. The shame about this movie is that you can tell that it could have been good...but was just all together OFF.

Yeah, I chose to ignore the post about American Beauty. I love, LOVE that movie. One of my all-time favorite quotes is the final lines from that movie:

"...it's hard to be pissed off when there's so much beauty in the world. Sometimes I try to take it in all at once - my heart fills up like a balloon that's about to burst. But then I remember to let go, stop trying to hold on to it - and then it flows through me like rain...

and I can't feel anything but grateful for every single moment of my stupid little life."

What's not to love? To each their own, to each their own...

two come to mind instantly

The Royal Tenenbaums and Zoolander. I sat at the edge of my seat waiting for the funny parts, but no laughter could even be forced...

I love The Royal Tenenbaums!!! I can't believe someone hated that! Though honestly, I don't see the huge attraction to Rushmore which is by the same director.

DH made me see White Chicks. Awful. Just stupid. Not remotely funny. Not stupid funny. Just bad. There was another one too that he made me watch recently that was like that, but I can't remember what.

Van Helsing sucked. As did Hell Boy, but Hell Boy sucked less.

The Royal Tenenbaums was one of the BEST movies ever. But I can def. see how someone might think it was boring, its one of those love it or hate it kind of movies I think.

Now Portrait of A Lady was the stupidest, most poorly acted, written and directed waste of film ever to appear in a theatre. That movie sucked HUGE sour lemons. Def. in my top three worst movies I've ever seen.

I won't even bother to see anything made by the Wayans dufuses.

Bamboozled, could have been a fabulous movie, Daman Wayans totally screwed it up with whatever he was doing that he called acting.

The Matrix II and III both sucked.

Anything starring "Chuckie" (still scares me but the movies suck)
Anything with Arnold Swartznegger

The worst movie I have ever seen is this movie starring Johnny Depp as Satan. That was incredibly bad.

Red Square w/ Richard Gere

And I can't remember the title but the movie RIck SPringfield made back in the early EIghties. First movie I ever walked out on and I had a huge crush on Rick too.

We saw the preview and thought it looked very funny. We got it from netflix. Well....just watch the previews. The only funny parts are in the previews. Actually they are more funny in the previews then in the movie. We actually turned off the movie and returned it before it was over.

The girl that was in it Claire..(?) just looked constipated the whole time. And I couldn't figure out why she would fall for him (other than his beauty, of course.) He was totally empty and dull and there is more to life that a perfect exterior, right? :LOL

There are many, but what popped into my head were those dreadful Barbie movies that my dd loves so much. :Puke
The only saving grace is the fact that dd loves ballet because of them...

A good rule of thumb is, the funnier the previews, the worse the actual movie is going to be.

What was that horrible movie when Janene Garofalo goes to Ireland? The Matchmaker? That was bad, bad, bad. Nothing but scenes of Janene Garofalo trying to make her lips look pouty.

Also, apparently, I was so traumatized by Trainspotting that my brain blocked all memory of it. Recently I mentioned to dh that I'd like to rent it because I'd never seen it, and he was like : and told me about how we'd watched it together when I was pregnant with dd and how much it had upset me.

From this list of "bad" movies, those I loved (or liked a lot):

Zoolander
Royal Tennenbaums
American Beauty
Life of Brian
Anchorman (we quoted it for weeks!)
Pirates of the Caribbean
Trainspotting
All 3 Matrixes

I agree Dodgeball was Baaad.
Spanglish looked horrible in the trailers.

I think the worst (in a sad way) movies I ever saw were the later movies the studio forced the Marx Bros to make, totally stifling their creativity and making them look ridiculous.

Loved, loved, loved Trainspotting but I never want to see it again. Too disturbing. I couldn't drink alcohol for months after seeing that movie lest something happen to my baby that I couldn't react to. It took me a long time to wind down from that movie. It did reinforce my total aversion to Heroin (sp?). How anyone could stick a needle in their arm is beyond me. Yech!

I thought of a couple of more really horrible movies. Chick flicks: Head Over Heels (the one with Freddy Prinze Jr.) - actually, scratch that - ANY movie with Freddy Prinze Jr. is guaranteed to be AWFUL. The Truth About Cats and Dogs and Emma and Alex - or was it Alex and Emma? Either way. Most Kate Hudson movies (excluding Almost Famous) are pretty darn bad.

"In The Cut", with Meg Ryan, has to be one of the worst movies I've ever seen, and definitely the worst in the last few years. When will stars realize that when they try to play against type, it usually doesn't work!

In that movie she looked horrible, and had some of the worst dialogue I've ever heard. The way it was filmed made it look all dark and grainy, and it was basically just stupid.

I like Meg Ryan much better when she's blond and perky!

Oy. The Truth About Cats and Dogs. I loathe that movie.

And, props to whoever mentioned Kill Bill. By the time the Blow Dart scene happened, I was ready to hunt Tarantino down and knock some sense into him.

Definitely Kung Pow! Enter the Fist

My husband rented it AFTER he had seen parts of it and told me how hilarious it was. It was SO not funny and he watched the whole thing. I had to leave the room, it was that bad.

A lot of movies I love are listed on this thread though. (American Beauty, Ace Ventura's, Pirates, Zoolander )
