The first one that came to mind was

Pay It Forward

Then after reading the other posts I have to totally agree with

Armageddon and Ladder 49.

So many of the films listed I have on my list, but I wanted to add one -

The Hours I cried soooooooo much. Such an excellent film, I would definitely watch it again, but probably not while pregnant! Nicole Kidman's performance makes me absolutely respect her acting ability.

Jillian, mama to Audrey (8/18/06), and Desmond (3/23/09)

I can't believe there hasn't been any mention of fried green tomatoes (buddy gets hit by a train and ruth dies from cancer), cold mountain (just as they're about to be together he gets blown away), or the all time weepy harold and maud (i can't even THINK about that one without tearing up...)

Ok, I have never even heard of What Dreams May Come- have to look it up now. Weird, I'm a movie buff too.

Anyway - Once Were Warriors is mine. I SOBBED in the theater.

OMG..... what about Sophie's Choice

Quote:
In the film's third flashback, Sophie tells Stingo about her "choice." When she arrived at Auschwitz -- on a "beautiful spring night" -- she was ordered to select one of her children, who would then be sent to the ovens; the other would be spared. This sequence is especially heartbreaking, as the screaming little girl is carried away to die
