And of course, I love ALL the old John Hughes movies--but that's no secret around here. I'm definitely stuck in the 80s (she types, humming "Come on Eileen" by Dexy's Midnight Runners)...

I'm off to add stuff to my Netflix queue. What a fun thread!

hmmm...

Fright Night

Teenage werewolf

Pretty much ANYTHING with Vincent Price.. I LOVE the "spooky" rubber bats flying through the air.. creaky coffins, etc etc.. I think this is where the term "vampy" came from.. (You should see my Edgar Allan Poe unit this year! )

OMG! I can't believe I forgot Fried Green Tomatoes! I LOVE that movie!!! DH and I went to a BBQ festival in Tryon NC a while back, and there was this HUGE muscle bound guy that looked a lot like the cook on the movie flipping ribs on this huge grill.... man, those things smelled like heaven smothered in sauce! But I couldn't help but feel a little queasy when DH mentioned how similar this was to a certain movie scene!

As a lifelong fan of Robert Heinlein, I haven't been able to bring myself to watch this one yet...and I've been meaning to since it was in the theatres.

I've only read a few pages, but of those mentioned, I love:

Breakfast Club (wouldn't have called it a bad movie, though)
Tremors
Robocop (although I may not watch it again - last time, the violence made me squeamish)
Big Trouble in Little China
Independence Day
...probably a few others.

The only one I consider a "guilty pleasure" (because it's SO far outside my usual fare) is Dirty Dancing.

Oh, yeah - and add all the 80s/90s action movies with Swayze - love them all...Red Dawn, Steel Dawn, Roadhouse - I'll take it. Of course, I'm an action movie addict, and my favourites are the 80s style (Stallone, Schwarenegger, Van Damme, Seagal, etc.).

Did I actually mention Swayze and forget to include Point Break? It probably has no redeeming qualities, but it doesn't need any.

I haven't seen Nancy Drew. I sort of enjoyed Heathers, but found it way too disturbing to say I actually liked it...

I forgot about this particular movie, but it started my lovefest with James Spader...Tuff Turf It was really really bad, but he was so cute
I just realized that i have probably watched some of the worst movies in the history of filmography:
I used to adore "Flesh and Blood" with Rutger Hauer and Jennifer Jason Leigh. I still have a soft spot for the two of them.

Oh look! It was directed by Paul Verhoeven : : :

So this is the place we come to reveal our secret shame? Sounds cathartic.

I have seen all the Star Trek movies at least twice. Yes, and I would do it again. (Star Trek IV is the best one, but of course you all knew that.)

My husband's favourite bad movie is Elvira: Mistress of the Dark.

I believe I may be the queen of bad films..

how about..

The Phantom (Billy Zane is SO hot)

The Librarian and The Librarian two.. (kind of like if Indiana Jones were a librarian instead of a professor on like 1/10 of the budget)

Flash ah ahh! Oh man, I loved that movie when I was younger. It is just so campy and over the top. I just saw a commercial the other night on SciFi for the digitally remasterd dvd and I was almost tempted to buy it.

Elvira was the inspiration for my make-up style as a teenager. I actually found her movie kind of fun, although I'd completely forgotten that it existed until you mentioned it.

I have too many to mention but here are a few.

Dracula Dead and Loving It
Robin Hood;Men in Tights
Jingle All the Way
Far and Away
Fright Night
Vampire Circus
Drop Dead Gorgeous
The Langoliers
Cat's eye
Buffy the Vampire Slayer and
Police Academy 7:Mission to Moscow

PS I can't remember who mentioned Rent, but that can't be considered a bad movie can it?
I promised someone I'd let them borrow it, but I still haven't given them it, I keep thinking that I'll want to watch it while they have it, I could watch it every day, there are few films I can say that about.
