I just saw that. They are saying it was an overdose. I can't imagine what Michelle is going through. I realize they are not together anymore but to have to explain it to a 2 year old.

So so sad He was a talented actor and seemed like a nice, down to earth person. Most heartbreaking is his little girl is too little to remember him.

They're saying it was an accidental overdose, not suicide. There were both prescription and over the counter sleeping pills around him. He spoke recently about his insomnia becoming unbearable and taking extra ambien

We've been following this closely here, as I've always had a crush on Heath and my DF loves comics. Apparently in preparation for his role as the Joker in the upcoming "The Dark Knight" he locked himself in a hotel room for a month and wrote a journal from the point of view of the Joker while reading the comics that this movie is based on. (These comics are heart breakingly sad, and disturbing)

Since that time, he's had trouble sleeping (not helping by hopping across the globe on a regular basis) and it's been getting worse lately, to the point where he's been complaining about it in interviews. As someone else mentioned, he took an overdoes of sleeping medication. He may just have been desperate to sleep.

I'm so sad about this.

A lovely article about him in the NYT. After reading this, I decided not to read any others about him as this one was perfectly and appropriately enough.

Me too. I feel as if I knew him. He was someone (although I've never met him or even saw him person) that I felt a big connection with for some reason.

I'm hoping after they figure out the cause of death and he is laid to rest that I will find some peace with it all. It's just so tragic.

I heard from a very reliable source that the room was filled with heroin and needles. Since that is not being shared with the media right now, perhaps the family (no judgment) wants to keep it quiet to protect his legacy.

That's not what I would choose for my son, God forbid, if this happened to me. I would want the world to know the truth... drug use can and still does DESTROYS lives. Exposing the truth might help others dealing with this very real problem for many people (not just Hollywood starlets) drug addiction.

The connection with the Mary Kate Olsen is that they "shared" a taste in partying. That is why she sent her body guard over first. Read between the lines. Her camp doesn't want this exposed either.

It's a horrible tragedy for him and his loved ones.

This is so sad.

I just watched the trailer for the Dark Knight on youtube today, and was so wierded out by it/in AWE of it, both because I was watching it knowing that he has died, and also just totally floored by his acting ability. It is said he spent a month holed up in a hotel room, writing journals from the point of view of the joker and getting into that character. He lost that australian accent and crawled into the joker's skin...like one youtube poster said...Jack Nicholson was just a man dressed in a clown suit, but Heath BECAME the Joker. His last role looks like it will be his best by far.

RIP, Heath.
