We went by the cemetary today (i hadn't been in 2 wks bcs we were out of town) and they removed the sidewalks on either side of the angel garden and put grass there. I am assuming that they are going to add more graves. Emeric used to be on the edge of the sidewalk and it was great for my dh and mil that can't walk well on uneven ground. Now they have to trudge across the grass. Also liked sitting on the flat sidewalk for picnics. I just don't like the change, wish they had warned us or something. I am sure I will get used to it (maybe, eventually).

really really missing my babies today. I think it has a lot to do with me finally letting go, accepting this pg, and feeling kind of hopeful. I always worry that I will forget the ones that I have lost but I know that isn't ture. Hopefully it just won't be as painful as time goes on.

dh is out of town for a few days and my kids are just really wound up. hoping we make it through without me losing it. I am so low energy lately.

I'm so excited that it's September! The days are just flying!!! I'll be 25 weeks tomorrow, which just seems really unreal!! Baby is active and I feel good despite having the fluid stuff to worry about. I'm just focusing on the fact that he is growing well and seemingly healthy and hoping that things continue to go well! Speaking of the fluid stuff, I'll be having an ultrasound next week with the specialists who go over the results of the fluid/growth scans that I've been having. I was a little nervous to find out they want to do an ultrasound themselves, but it makes sense that they'd want to check things out on their own machines and all of that. I'm hoping to still be in the "normal" range of low, or even better, just normal! But regardless, I'm just thankful that with each passing day he gets bigger and stronger and more likely to survive in case he needs to come early if the fluid levels happen to get too low. Grow baby grow! heartbeat.gif

This really speaks to me. Feeling very similar lately... letting go of the pain, accepting the joy... but worried about forgetting. I also know that is not going to happen, but I am really enjoying my little  guy so much... all of his little (and not so little!) movements, joking with DH about his little already evident personality... just the whole idea of him, really. And then I remember that he would not be here if his sister had stayed, and that brings guilt... because I love and want him so much. The truth is these days I have more joy over this little guy than I do pain over losing my daughter, and it almost feels like I'm being unfaithful to her memory or something! I know that's not true! It's just me healing, and that is a good thing! But still... It's such a mixed bag of emotions! I do miss her so much though, especially these days when I'm doing all this baby preparation that I never made it to with her. I even bought some little girl outfits and put them with her things, just to be able to do it. In a perfect world, I would have them both!!

I'm sorry about the cemetery changes. I hate those kinds of changes. Throws me all off balance! irked.gif

These threads seem to move pretty slow at times. Maybe because lots of us only really post the bigger updates & milestones? I don't post in a regular DDC here, so I feel like I miss out on a lot of the fluff! Some fluff can be nice sometimes to keep the brain from more serious stuff though! smile.gif

So... uh.... what are you craving/eating?! How's that for fluff? orngbiggrin.gif Seriously though, food has been on my mind BIG TIME lately. Ever since my morning sickness finally went away around 17/18 weeks, I've been a pretty hungry gal and fattening up this baby! Unfortunately I put on all of my preggo weight (about 13 pounds now) in just 2 months! Nada before that! OOOPS! Relied on takeout a lot because I was supposed to be taking it real easy and didn't do much cooking... not to mention I probably hit the ice cream stands a little too often this summer! Sheepish.gif

I have a little burst of energy lately though so I'm cooking more again and trying to eat a lot healthier! So, what'cha all eating?

I made the most fantastic breakfast sammy today... I think I could eat it every day! Fried egg, turkey, tomato, cheddar cheese and avocado on a whole wheat English muffin. Heavenly!

chocolate!!! I am actually eating some right now. The whole foods dark chocolate bars are my favorite. I eat about a bar a day and I really don't care. It has been the one thing I do for me and I raelly enjoy it. My weight is fine though so I will go with that.

We are eating lots of carbs around her cuz well,it's easy and i don't have energy for much else.

That breakfast sandwich actually sounds awful! I have a really really hard time stomaching eggs while pg. ds2 I ate them constantly and he is allergic. Then my 3rd pg I couldn't stand the smell or anything, lost that baby at 12.5 wks and took me a few yrs to be able to eat eggs again. I eat it sometimes and sometimes they are fine on a sandwich just like you described but..... just depends on the day I guess.

I noticed in the august ddc that emerging butterfly had her baby. someone else posted it. Hoping she makes her way over here soon to tell us all about it.

The first baby was born on my ddc this morning. the mama was a little over 34 wks. They suspect he has down syndrome and her post was very very short so I don't know the details. He is in the nicu but sounds like he is going to be ok from what she described. Makes me realize how close I am to giving birth and that there really are no guarantees with this deal.

I had my iron checked today (recomendation from my mw), they said it was perfect so that isn't the reason I am so tired that I had to find a bench and sit half way through wal mart yesterday. I just get winded so easily and don't remember feeling this way in previous pregnancies.

Where is everyone else? Vermillion is right this thread is really really slow!!!

Hey hey hey!

Cravings.... anything sugar and sour is really hitting the spot. I've been pretty sick this pregnancy so heavy meals sound puke.gif I found sour Smarties candies and have been munching on them like crazy. Side dishes sound good too. I had a wonderful heirloom tomato salad yesterday that really hit the spot. Mashed potatoes sound good. An ear of corn.

Nicole, stuff like that really messes me up. We need to get Amelia's ashes into a place that isn't William's dresser drawer and the though of it makes me uneasy. I'm sorry you're unsettled. :hug

Something that I've found since William's birth is that I just don't think of Amelia every day...or every few days. At first I felt tremendous guilt over this. But now I'm settled with it. I need to focus on my living son, my family, and life. Not what never was, or what could have been. It's a weird feeling to pay attention too while I remember how dark and heavy the first months after Amelia's death was. I had no idea I would ever be able to be where I am now.

11 weeks tomorrow. Holy Moley. I swear I felt something last night but I've never felt the baby this early so perhaps it was just gas? I had sex with DH last night...fist time since I found put I was preggo. We had sex the night before my water broke with Amelia so I'm VERY uneasy with it. With DS I don't think we had sex more than once or twice until I was 24 weeks and felt that at least the baby was viable. I'm trying hard to pretend I'm a naive pregnant lady who has no idea that babies and mamas die.

Nursing DS stinks. I have no intention of weaning him but man...it hurts so bad. I'm hoping that it's just 1st tri sensitivity.

Lots of complains! Sorry!

holy moly!!! No wonder she hasn't posted yet... thurs night, yikes!!! Hoping sara and alicia are doing well.

as far as nursing during pg goes it is definately more painful in the first tri and then varies depending on your dc latch, the ammount of milk/collostrum, your mood, etc. I have been nursing for over 9 yrs now and through manymany pregnancies. I personally think it is worth it. I love the bonding that the little ones do and I love being able to share that with them. It was a bummer making it 17 wks with Emeric and then not being able to share that with his sister. She liked the extra milk though and I didn't have to deal with what to do with the milk supply. She took care of that.

sides are yummy. I find when pg breakfast is my hardest meal of the day but I really enjoy things like spaghetti, chili, etc (Yeah for breakfast) but by dinner those things don't sound so good anymore:)

Jumping in

Congrats to Sara on the birth of Alicia.

I'll be 32weeks tomorrow, this pregnancy seems like it's flying by. We have a 3-d session set up for Saturday. I can't wait to see H again and make sure he's really still a boy.

Hi there - you guys are getting so close!

Just a post. I think I'm 9-10 weeks or so. I have an appointment with a new doctor on Friday, which will include an ultrasound and will get a second opinion on the date. I went last week to my old hospital, but don't think i'm 100% comfortable there - too many bad memories, and a little impersonal, still. But got an ultrasound then which said I was 8 weeks 5 days. That was last Friday. Good think about that was seeing the heartbeat though.

If this new doc is at all someone I am comfortable with, and if their facilities are as good as the other one (I think they are as highly rated), then I'll probably switch. Fingers crossed.

Also, regarding food - not so hot on eggs either. All my pregnancies have been consistent in terms of eggs, sometimes chicken aversion too. The things I've been munching on so far this time (and I have to stop, as I get more queasy after) are sugary/sour too - sour patch kids and especially candy corn! It's really hard too because of the nausea in general, but especially after those. Otherwise pasta sounds great all the time - I actually made some perogi a few days ago and could easily have eaten 40 of them. :)

Cindy - I kind of feel the same way, I'm getting really focused on this new pregnancy and feel very guilty for not thinking of DS2 at every moment. In fact, we've been before now so paralyzed with things (and taking care of my 3 year old), that we haven't ordered a headstone yet...we will do this on Saturday. I feel awful and neglectful for that. There is a tradition (I'm Jewish) where you don't reveal the marker until the 1 year anniversary, but since that will be February, I don't know if they will put the stone in then; so we're hoping to order something and get it in before the deadline due to weather...sigh. Makes me feel so bad we haven't done it sooner. This weekend, it will just be nice to get that done, and to go to the cemetery in general. We don't go much, and that's another thing I feel guilty about.  Keep trying for that hopeful innocence though! I'm aiming to do that as much as I can. I know it's hard, though.

Living in a very large midwestern city with a wonderful guy, an AMAZING boy wonder, and 1 ancient cat. Missing our 2nd boy wonder, lost Feb 2011 during labor on his due date. Now possibly going back down the rabbit hole, with a BFP on 8/11/11, and a due date of April 10, 2012.

I agree, we could use some "fluff" in this thread! I will try to come back and post more. I honestly don't use MDC like I used to, I keep up with my October DDC on Facebook and have lots of chat time there .. so I'm not here as much.

Ok, going to update on something serious and then I will talk some fluff. thumb.gif

There is a Geneticist and Pediatric Neuro (yes, both!) in Seattle that is the top expert in what Gavin had. He has agreed to work with us, and give his opinion on Gavin, and this pregnancy. I'm excited .. we may not get any more answers, but if he can't help us, no one can. I'm so thankful for the opportunity for his insight.  I have my first appointment with the prenatal genetics clinic in October and I'm very conflicted. We know we can't test for what Gavin had .. so do I do all of this first trimester screening, etc? I'm still leaning towards yes, because we want all the info we can get on this little one. But then part of me thinks it's going to be super expensive and for what? Right now I'm going to keep the appointment and see what their suggestions are. I'm all about some more detailed ultrasounds looking at brain development, but I'm not sure about wasting my time with genetic testing...

On a lighter note, I'm craving carbs and cheese. Yeah, not the healthiest option. Like I could eat cheese toast 3x a day. I have a total aversion to chicken .. I can do broth, like yesterday I made a yummy homemade chicken soup, but the chicken chunks are just NASTY. *gag*  I like eggs, but the have to be boiled and I can only eat the whites. I can't stand scrambled right now.

So excited for everyone that is getting close ...

So I just wanted to update real quick on my post from the other day-

Quote:

Speaking of the fluid stuff, I'll be having an ultrasound next week with the specialists who go over the results of the fluid/growth scans that I've been having. I was a little nervous to find out they want to do an ultrasound themselves, but it makes sense that they'd want to check things out on their own machines and all of that. I'm hoping to still be in the "normal" range of low, or even better, just normal!

I had my appointment with the high risk specialists today. They did an extremely thorough ultrasound, basically a whole new anatomy scan! Well, they looked at what they could look at anyway! Baby curled into a ball and wouldn't let them see everything, but all his parts looked good at my first anatomy scan, so no worries there. The main reason they wanted to see me was because of my low fluid levels. The tech did an ultrasound and then a resident did one of her own, and they both came up with almost 11 for my AFI (total fluid level measurement) which is not too shabby at all! "An AFI between 8-18 is considered normal. Median AFI level is approximately 14 from week 20 to week 35." They agreed that when you look at my fluid, it looks lower than it actually is. Largest pocket was 3.5, which is what it has been, and is totally adequate (anything over 2.5 is fine) but I've never had the full AFI done yet, and I was really pleased! I thought it would be lower based on what was being said before, but, it's all subjective anyway... so...  The doctor came in and told me that he thinks the baby is just fine! They want me to come back in a month just to have another look, and hopefully all will be just fine then, too! fingersx.gif For now though I am happy and can breathe a little bit easier!

Oh yeah, he's still measuring great, a little bigger than average even! And he was very active and adorable! love.gif Happy day! luxlove.gif

Back to the fluffy food stuff, hubby and I went out to Olive Garden (my latest major craving) to celebrate a good appointment! I totally stuffed myself with calamari, a bunch of salad, soup & zeppoles for dessert. mmmmm so good!!

Ok, so I'm going to not be lazy for a minute and do personals! lol.gif

Cindy, I started feeling this little guy right about 12 weeks! I convinced myself that it was gas, it seemed crazy to feel anything that early, but ultrasound confirmed for me that he was moving around just where I was feeling him! Felt like a squirmy little worm! love.gif And then my uterus FINALLY moved up a few weeks later and I didn't feel anything again for a bit. I think I was feeling him because of how low he was and it was a tight squeeze, even for a little bean! Anyway, I totally think you could be feeling your little one!

Totally hear you on the sex stuff too... the few times I've been with DH, I get so paranoid that we hurt something, so we don't even do anything now... He's so understanding though, but man do I MISS IT! Sucks to want it but feel so iffy greensad.gif I'm just so freaking afraid of doing something to make him come too early... not likely, I know, but the fear doesn't really go away fro me. Maybe in a few more weeks I'll feel safer...

Kami, SO close!!! How exciting! I'm almost 26 weeks and I feel like my pregnancy is flying by too!!! Surprising, I really thought it would drag by! But nope! Yay for your 3D! I'm so jealous! My little one DOES NOT cooperate for good shots! When we tried to get a face shot, he put his legs and feet in front of his face! lol.gif

Ekandrmkb- Sending good thoughts for your appointment tomorrow!!! I hope you find someone you're comfortable with! It makes all the difference, I think!

Mistymama- That's awesome that you'll be seeing the specialists! I hope you get some of the answers you need and can come to a decision about the testing that'll help you feel more comfortable! I've done a lot of things this pregnancy that I normally wouldn't want to do... has it been worth it? Well, it's certainly helped me feel like I'm taking a more active role... like I'm just a *little* bit more in control of such an uncertain situation, and that's helped me. I guess I'm just not comfortable anymore with just going with flow and hoping for the best. If I can get any info & answers, I want to do it! smile.gif

Phew, I think I'm all caught up now! orngbiggrin.gif

ETA: I am SO thrilled so Sara!!! She's on my FB and waiting through her labor for news was so nerve wracking! I am so happy that her little girl is safe and sound in her arms! She's just beautiful!!! & It's so inspiring... makes it feel a little more real for me when I see a new rainbow coming into the world!! love.gif

So the babies movement has decreased significantly. I noticed yesterday morning that she didn't do her regular all night marathon nor her morning wake up gymnastics. Throughout the day she would shift if I poked the crap out of her but not her normal active movement. Same thing for last night and this morning too. My question is for those of you that have done kick counts, what type of movement am I looking for and how much and how often?

Nicole~ I've head you should get 10 in a hour, but I'd probably want to be seen if baby wasn't sticking yon its usual pattern and not go by the 10 in a hour.innocent.gif

kami, those pictures are great!!! Is your lo smiling in the first one? That is awesome.

Still a little freaked but not enough to call anyone. I got her to move this morning after chocolate and juice. She moved aout 111 times in a 5-10 min period but that was about 7:30ish and i haven't really felt her since. Maybe a little shifting here or there but not enough to feel totally relaxed. I am not totally freaked yet. I will keep you guys posted.

Nicole~ Yeah he was smiling in the first picture. When the first put it on my stomach and turned it to 3-d he looked like he was pouting lol. He was snuggled up against my placenta the whole time and loved having his one hand near his face.

Hope your little girl starts to move more for you .

Jumping in after lurking for a while, but just felt compelled to throw in my 2 cents. I would go in, asap, to check things out. It doesn't hurt to make sure everything is ok.

She did her usual all night aerobics so I am feeling much better. This pal stuff is so hard.

So hard. hug2.gif

I have a lot of movement related freak outs, starting the 2 1/2 weeks ago where I could not get him to move AT ALL for almost 24 hours after he had been really active for a few weeks prior. I went in, and felt a little silly when all was well, but they assured me to not hesitate to come in if I feel like something might be off. He's really slowed down again the past few days, and I feeling him less than I was the last couple of weeks, but I AM feeling him, and I just had a really good ultrasound the other day, so I'm keeping calm (ish) smile.gif He still gets himself into some weird positions and I have an anterior placenta that he's probably hiding behind sometimes, so some days he's a ninja and others just a tiny, light footed ballerina lol.gif

Movement is by far my favorite part of pregnancy but probably one of the most stressful too... When he's moving A LOT I worry if there is something wrong, when he slows down I worry there is something wrong... There really is no winning!

You should have seen me in the public restroom today. I hadn't felt him move this morning (probably b/c I was distracted getting ready for my interview) and I was banging and pushing and poking all over my belly. He would not respond. Went to the waiting area to wait for my appointment, and he started kicking like crazy. Silly boy...

theboysmama - so glad to hear that you're feeling those kicks again!

I meant to post here a little earlier, just to say that it's confirmed that I'm now at 10 weeks. Whew. And, I have a new doctor at a completely different hospital - he and the staff has already put me at ease (at least, as much as I can be). They really seem to know their stuff, and we click well. I have good hopes for working with them in the future, if this pregnancy continues. It's a relief to know that I won't have to call my old office anymore or walk into their waiting room, but I'm not losing access to the highest facilities...

Oh - and heartbeat is 171, which they say is good. So, next step is the 1st trimester screening for Down's and spina bifida. Then, after that, we may tell our DS1. I think he senses something anyway, he's been acting a little nutty (i.e., wanting almost nothing to do with me and being all about his daddy, which is strange because he's more equal opportunity).

Lavatea! How are you!- I was in Bitter Sushi Ladies with you! Congrats- I pray everything will continue to go well for you...

So......I'm pregnant....(!)... But I'm still worried things may not be going right just like my last loss, can I join this group!? I lost 3 times in the past year... 1 Ectopic -emergency surgery to remove my tube in May 2010, 8 week misscarrage after the ectopic August 2010, and then a cemicall pregancy at the end of the year Dec 2010- jan 2011...

I had a US on Tuesday at 8:30 am they were thinking that I was close to 5weeks 2 days, they saw the sac and the thicking lining, but nothing else was spotted..... Am I freaking out for no reason?

My LMP was August 14th or 15th and I KNOW I o-ed on 31st... 10 days later I got a positive test on the 9-10-11, then Blood work on Monday HCG was 192 and wednesday 662, Ultrasound on tuesday the 20th showed a Sac.... Should I ahve seen more? I found this on-line at americanpregnancy :

Week 5 Gestational Age (Fetal age 3 weeks)

Development
The gestational sac is often the first thing that most transvaginal ultrasounds can pick up at about 5 weeks. This is seen before a recognizable embryo can be seen. Within this week, at about week 5 ½ to the beginning of the 6th week, a yolk sac can be seen inside the gestational sac. The yolk sac will be the earliest source of nutrients for the developing fetus.

It makes me feel better... but I still would love some feed back...

I don't know much about the numbers and what you should see real early, but Congrats!! on the pg.

Come join the BSL grad thread, too.

I'm doing well so far. I feel fairly confident at this point in the pg, though we all know anything can and does happen. And I'm still on the alert for PIH symptoms since I had it with my last successful pregnancy.

Glad to see you here. smile.gif

Just popping in to say that I hope everyone and there little babies are doing well.

Also, I found this sculpture and just had to share. I wish that I had seen it sooner (not that I could afford it) but would love to have it at the birth. I think it would be a peaceful reminder of where I am at and what I have gone through.
