August Thread

This is the September 2012 pregnancy thread for ALL graduates of the "hoping, healing & conceiving again" threads. Here we can discuss our concerns and problems in the safety and company of other mamas like us. Compare BETA results, our prenatal screens, show off our scans, and in what seems like a lifetime away - our newborn baby pictures.

If you are a new poster, just let me know your EDD, and I'll update at the start of each week. Due date calculator with luteal phase length.

We have a FB group for sharing whatever you'd like in a private setting. If you'd like to join, you can find us here.

Congratulations!!  :joy

Thanks for the new thread, Adaline's Mama!

I am listed twice on the list, once as 9 weeks and once as 10 weeks. I'm actually 11. smile.gif

I had another ultrasound on Friday. I went in for my first OB appointment, and she couldn't pick up the heartbeat with the doppler, so she wheeled in the ultrasound machine. I actually wasn't freaking out too bad, but I was still relieved when we found the baby, with a heartbeat and moving all over the place, right away. The day was actually really nice after that; I was able to have lunch by myself, stop at a few stores, and go grocery shopping. DH was off work, so I was alone for 6.5 hours. I really needed some time to myself, so it was a wonderful afternoon. That evening, friends of ours came over for dinner, and the kids all played together so nicely. It was actually a great weekend! I finally feel like my life might be headed in the right direction.

Hi!  I'm 31 weeks now (listed as 30 above).  Things still going pretty uneventfully.  At last week's appointment, the only worry was that the blood tests that went along with my glucose test 3 weeks ago (I passed the glucose part with flying colors) showed I was fairly anemic, and so I doubled the iron I'm taking, but I needed to get tested to see if it was doing any good.  Thing is, I had an appointment later in the day with the kidney specialist I've been seeing (and, more good news, my kidneys are boring right now and doing everything they're supposed to) so my OB ordered the blood tests to happen when I'd be getting blood drawn for my kidney appointment, anyway.  Nice to only get poked once, right?  I was kind of wondering why they only had one vial set up when they were drawing my blood, but it had been a long day, so I didn't think to ask.  Next day, I get a call from my OB that they'd ignored her test orders.  So, I got to go to a lab (thankfully nearby) to get my blood drawn a second time. (Of course, only after I'd called the OB's office to tell them which lab to fax the order over to did I realize that the nearby lab was in the same building where I saw the horrible OB 3 years ago.  I had to remind myself that she's no longer with that practice, though...  That's a long story, but suffice to say, bad-OB is the only person besides my MIL who's come close to sending DH into a full-blown panic attack...)  Anyhow, got poked for blood a second time in two days, and the lab, thankfully, was on the first floor of the building, so I really didn't see anything besides the building exterior and elevator lobby to remind me of anything bad, and the next day my OB's office called me to say that I'm no longer anemic...

But, the really good news is that little drama about actually getting the blood tests is the most exciting thing to happen in quite a while.  The slightly annoying thing is that my maternity shorts no longer fit, and of course it's been crazy hot here...  If I remember right, the reason I didn't get them a size larger initially was that they only went up to size larger, not XL, so they don't fit.  The really weird thing is that in the past few weeks, more than a few people have told me I look "small" for being as pregnant as I am.  Yup, I'm so small that I can't fit in size large maternity shorts...  (Of course, I'm tall and have a large frame, which I think has a lot to do with it...  but people look at me like I have two heads when I tell them I'm big-boned... Yes, you can see my wrist and elbow and ankle bones sticking out.  They're, um, big bones.  Hello?  That's what big-boned means?)

Hi Everyone:  I'm sorry that I haven't participated on this thread in awhile (only Facebook).  My exDH has been known to stalk me over here, so I was hoping to maintain a little privacy by staying on FB.  However, given that this baby is almost here and that things are fairly stable on the ex front, I thought I'd jump back in.

Updates: I'm due Aug. 29, so I'm actually 36.5 weeks now (could call it 37w for ease of editing).  The baby is boy #6 for us - Timothy for first name, no middle name yet.

AFM: I have 2x weekly NSTs at this point because of my age (38) and a couple of low fluid measurements in this pregnancy.  Everything seems to be great with the little guy; however, I'm anemic, GBS +, borderline GD, and dealing with a pregnancy after grade 2 prolapse of my uterus, bladder, and rectum that happened during my last delivery.  As much as my DH and I enjoy having our large family, we're 95% sure that this baby is our last because of the complications for me.  Anyhow, I'm looking forward to birthing this little guy in a few weeks, then watching my family grow up rather than out!  We're considering adoption in the next 3 to 4 years - possibly special needs - and would like to add a little girl or two to our fantastic group of boys.

Hope everyone is enjoying their Monday so far!

Camo- Fixed. Are you in the Feb DDC? Im glad you had a good appointment :)

Zejh- Fixed. Old navy had cheap maternity XL shorts when I was there the other day. End of season.

Rose- its funny that pregnant people host threads. Youd think that we'd enlist some sane, non pregnant person to do it :)

Soul O- Fixed. 6 boys! WOW!

AFM- Im anxiously awaiting my next OB appointment, (still 3 weeks away) where I will find out genders.

Hey Shell!!!!! wave.gif It's good to see you here! Congratulations! flowersforyou.gif

Hey Soul-O - Did you know you could change your user name if you want to put a damper on ex-dh's stalking. I just wanted to point put an option in case you didn't know.

zejh - I'm glad things are pretty uneventful. I always think the last 2 months of pg are the worst. At 32 weeks yu feel quite done with pregnancy and then you realize you have 2.more.months of this!!!!!!!!!!! faint.gif

camo - Sounds like a nice day! It's always reassuring to hear the h/b. heartbeat.gif

AFM - I'm 10 weeks tomorrow. So, when will I stop saying, well, if these beans make it......

Hi X!

Edit* I feel much more positive after ranting to SO and having a cry. I am starting to feel as happy and excited about this BFP as I should and want to! No need for me "rant" here anymore lol.

And why on earth are we letting two twin mamas do it two months in a row?! Clearly this is a recipe for disaster. =P

Maybe everyone do Adaline a favor and PM her if your header is wrong?

Camoshades, So happy you got a peak at your little bundle.  :)  And that everything is starting to look up for you! :)

Adaline'sMama- Thanks for starting the thread!  So excited for your gender reveal!  Three weeks seem like so far away, but I am sure it will fly by!  Also, Everything in the header is right for me except my EDD.  Can you change my EDD to March 9?  (I am still 9 weeks!)

zejh- I am big boned, too.  I look like a normal, thin, tall lady to everyone, but then they are surprised when they find out I am a size 14!!!  NO WAY, they say!  Yes...yes way!!!  I second the old navy suggestion.  Also, if you sew, there are a few tutorials for turning regular pant/shorts into maternitywear!

Soul-o- So sorry for all the health problems this pregnancy, but I am glad that baby is doing well!  Wow!  6 boys!  :)  How fun!  We would love a large family one day, but are taking it one child at a time! :D

Xerxella- hmmm... I don't know when you wills top saying that.  Some lady at church found out I was pregnant on Sunday and said, "Oh, so you are going to have a baby?!" My response was, "well, I hope so."  She looked at me like I had three heads!  I am wondering when I can believe that there WILL be a baby...  GL on Wednesday's u/s!!!  Can't wait for pictures!

Shell- Lots of emotions are normal.  It will probably be a roller coaster for a while.  Is it possible you are protecting your heart from another loss???

AFM- Well, I went to OB's office today to check on my crazy bleeding and cramping.  Saw a baby... YEAY!!!  Saw a heartbeat!  Yeay!!!  So very very wonderful!  Saw the subchorionic hematoma and the tech said that it is almost "bled out" and that the bleeding should subside soon.  Yeay!  Feeling better about it all today! :D Now that it is August, I am gonna TRY to keep up with this board! :)  Here goes!

Sewing, gardening, home birthing, co-sleeping, extended nursing, cloth diapering, baby-wearing, home schooling, attachment parenting busy mommy to dd1 (7), dd2 (4), ds (1) and two in heaven.

Adaline'sMama, I'm also 21 weeks instead of 20. (I'm pretty sure almost everyone is a week farther than the header originally had them...) AND thank you for being August Threadkeeper!

Jodie, that is fantastic news. SO glad you got that extra bit of reassurance today!

Camo, you, too! Sounds like your day was pretty wonderful.

X, I still am avoiding the "counting my chickens" portion, but the mid-point anatomy scan was a real turning point for me.  I'm thinking lots of positive thoughts for your scan Wednesday.

Shell, vent all you need. Glad you had a positive turn tonight, though.

zejh, WOW, 6 weeks...YAY! Sorry you were further reminded of your evil OB, but glad you didn't have to re-live too much of it. (and that your anemia is resolved!)

Rose, that's funny about needing new pants *just* for the belly. I'm sure it won't be the last time...

Harmony, has your DD kept your sneak-peek "secret" thus far?

Hi, Tabitha!

AFM, I think my body just realized it's over halfway, and the relaxin started flowing in the middle of last week. My SPD has come back (though not bothered me today, thankfully) and ALL my joints crack and creak anytime I get up, but especially first thing in the morning--it's so weird. Babygirl has been trampolining on my bladder, so I'm constantly in and out of bathrooms. I'm still averse to really healthy food (like salad, which I used to LOOOOVE), but thanks to my new-found tolerance for ice cream, I'm finally reliably gaining weight--now 5lbs under my BFP weight. (which is kind of cheating since I was in the midst of a dietary change and had also been running/gaining muscle mass, so the loss was pretty healthy.) Lately, I've been decluttering and it feels really good to give stuff (or throw stuff) away. I'm currently having anxiety about our upcoming school year--we are actually adding on to our 3-R's approach to homeschooling and have committed to contribute and keep up with an academic co-op. I'm trying to ease us in, but I'm not even doing a good job of THAT right now. We'll really dive in after Labor Day.

AAM - So, work sent me on a trip to Denver! So, I'll miss my u/s appointment tomorrow. greensad.gif I'm trying to reschedule for Friday, but I'm honestly not sure I'll even be back by Friday. greensad.gif I guess I'll try to make the appointment for next week. I can't/won't tell work until I know what I'm telling them! Sigh. I guess it changes nothing, it just put off finding out anything. sigh

Thanks!  I'll have to take a look there this week or next...

I'm also (normally) a size 14 (though I was down to a 10 for my wedding dress, but that was a high-waisted A-line dress...  And I was working out almost daily and watching what I ate and biking everywhere...)

Yeah... I'm occasionally having moments of semi-panic now that it's closer and closer to being real...  Thankfully my mother is going to be here for a few weeks, and she (unlike MIL) is very helpful.

X- No! I have been waiting so patiently for your appointment. You sound so cool about it?! I think I would be going crazy if I were you.

Rae- I had horrible SPD pain with DD1, but none with DD2. Chiropractic did help some, if I recall correctly. Glad to hear you are finally gaining some weight.

Jodie- I am so happy for you. I kept going back to read your FB thread for updates. Glad all is well in there!

Hey everyone, I am actually a couple days short of 13wks. I think the header says 9wks. Is anyone else really irritable. I have no control over my emotions. Like if someone or something bothers me, I just can't let it go. It is so hard to be rational. Is anyone else struggling with that. I hope this isn't going to last for the entire nine months or I should lock myself in a closet and avoid certain people.

Anyone else feel that way. Eh, my mood is all over the place.

Married to DH ,forever missing (02/08)@ 8wks.,08/10)@ 8wks.,and(26/01/12)chemical pregnancy.Hopeing, praying and wishing for my first baby to be born healthy!

Deportivo- I have been thinking about you.  YES!  Everything annoys me!!!  Or makes me cry! A certain person in my life (close family member) is driving me insane through no fault of her own.  I rationally know it is just me, but can't get past certain things.... If it is not what she says, its how she says it.  I feel that way about her ONLY when I am pregnant or the day before I get my period.  I would always joke that if I didn't chart, I would still know when my period was coming based on how much she annoyed me.  Also, tears flow at the slightest thing.  I can't watch an episode of Little House on the Prairie without balling my eyes out!  lol.  For me, the emotionaly crying mess lasts throughout the entire pregnancy and gets worse in the weeks after baby is born then s.l.o.w.l.y starts to get better.  My crankiness/Everyone annoys me attitude usually only last until a couple weeks into the second trimester.  Until then, avoiding people and hiding in the closet works.  Also deep breaths and realizing it is more me than them helps, too.  Hope you get some emotional relief, soon!!!

Lurking here just to check up on everyone.

Deportivo!  Yay for 13 weeks!  I am just so happy for you!  But sorry you are feeling so crabby.  I DO remember feeling that way too.  It was so hard this last time for me because I was so crabby with my poor little DS.  I felt like a crap mom.  BUT it got better over time. It's probably different for everyone exactly when they feel better or worse.  But just hang in there and do what you have to do to take care of yourself and be gentle with yourself.  Hugs!
