This is the April 2013 pregnancy thread for ALL graduates of the "Hoping, Healing & Conceiving Again" threads, or anyone who has suffered a loss and has found themselves expecting again. Here we can discuss our concerns and problems in the safety and company of other mamas like us. Compare BETA results, our prenatal screens, show off our scans, and in what seems like a lifetime away - our newborn baby pictures.

If you are a new poster, just let me know your EDD, and I'll update at the start of each week. Due date calculator with luteal phase length.

Just as a reminder, please post any updates that you'd like the threadkeeper to add or change in bold.

We have a FB group for sharing whatever you'd like in a private setting. If you'd like to join, you can find us here.

Congratulations!!joy.gif

Shiloh, there's no research or proof that shows ultrasound or doppler are bad for baby, and for every "study" done that suggests they are bad there's an equal study that shows they aren't bad.  So just keep that in mind, of course it's your choice whether you have them or not.  I have ultrasounds to check for cord compression, knots, and being around baby's neck because we've lost a child at 38 weeks due to that issue so they do help me.  Also, I had early ultrasound because I had a bleed behind the placenta and we need to see if it was big or getting smaller etc etc.  With my 3 y/o I had probably had 30 ultrasounds and with the one before her, and they are actually very intelligent children and growing perfectly ... even though 3 y/o was born at 33w5d she shows no signs at all of preterm birth.  Just my experience, I'm no expert at all :)

M Anna, I hope that everything is ok with your little sister!!!  I have had brown bleeding with my last 4 pregnancies during the 1st trimester from 6w-13w off and on sometimes lots sometimes a little.  I hope it's just a Subchoronic Hematoma (sp?) and small and goes away quickly and poses no problems for her and babies!!!

So I did more research on this test that I had.  I have about a 17% chance of spontanious labor within 14 days of test.  About 60% of women that have a + result deliver an average of 25 days after the + and most (but not all) deliver before 35 weeks.  We are leaving in the morning for Kennedy Space Center, Key West, and Disney.  Dr pointed out all the cities with Perinatal ICU's and said if I experience ANY symptoms at all to go there immediately, don't brush off symptoms of any kind, and I will be riding in a wheel chair at Kennedy and a motorized cart at Disney.  We are scared because we do NOT want him to come now at all.  Luckily I feel OK right now and not like I have been feeling in the recent few days/weeks.

TDE, I hope you're doing ok mama!!

Unusely - Thanks for the new thread! Can u pls change me to 11 weeks? Thanks!
M Anna - Glad to hear ur sis's twins are doing fine!
AFM: 1 1/2 weeks until we'll look for a heartbeat w a doppler. Kind of dreading it and wondering if it's a good ideas. On one hand, I kind of don't want to know if the baby is dead before my body starts to pass him or her. On the other hand, I need to get to the point where I feel confident in this pregnancy that I can switch care providers. (I don't want to birth in a hospital but my insurance won't cover a home birth midwife.) I keep pushing back the appointment. At this point it's at 12 weeks 5 days. I kind of hate calling to reschedule, so I might stick with it, but part of me wants to wait another week or two.

Oh yeah - Unusely - I hadn't updated the dates for next week yet. I usually do it on Sat or Sun - but you can do it whenever you're ready since everyone flips over on a different day anyway. You're on bed rest? I missed that. Take it easy this weekend! How long are you in bed for? What test do they use to test prolactin?

Tenk - Take it easy, ok! I'll be thinking about you and sending some "baby stay in" vibes your way.

Revolting - hoping you find out everything is ok at that appt.

AFM - I'll be 17 weeks on Monday.. This is the week that everything went wrong last pregnancy. I delivered a day shy of 18 weeks...never even made it to my anatomy scan. I saw my doc on Wednesday and she said everything seemed fine. I haven't had an u/s since week 12 though... and my anatomy scan is week 19 on April 16th. I don't really have anything to get me through this tough week. I'll continue to listen to my "baby stay in" track. Maybe do some Zumba to keep my mind off my fear. I'll try to enjoy the weather and just breathe. What will be, will be - right? I hope everyone has a great weekend.

it is a test that my endocrinologist had check thru my blood work cause he knew that i had problems with preterm labor  and it is a hormone that you do get in pregnancy but does not get as high as mine is till about 3 or 4 weeks before you have your baby it can cause you to have contraction and make the baby come early so i will be start on  procardia  come monday when the ob opens and i am on bed rest for the rest of my pregnancy which is going to be hard cause i have a long way to go

Finally decided to pop onto the new thread (realized it was night of the 31st). Brain kind of gone lately. Today is 2 years since Innocent died, the first baby we lost. I was in such shock. I actually clutched my stomach and screamed at him, "how could you leave me?!" :( Feel bad about that now. Anyway, he's in Heaven and perfectly well and happy with our other baby Andrew. Sigh. I hope with all my heart we don't get to yet another Christmas with empty arms.

Ok, enough.

Glad to see everyone here! Hope everyone had a good Easter who celebrates it. Ours isn't until May 5th so we have a long way to go.

URiver: Thanks for the new thread! Thinking "stay put baby" thoughts for you. (: [Oh, and can you change me to 6 weeks? FINALLY!]

100%mom: Does that mean you have five living children and one on the way?

Tenk: In case you didn't see it on the March thread: Hope you have a great time and baby STAYS PUT. (hear that baby?)

.

Thanks URiver for the new thread! I hope things start looking up for you. I am mostly lurking too.

Thebyr, I will be thinking about you lots this week.

Tenk, I hope you have a lovely time and that you get to be in that percentage where the baby stays in. We are nearly to the third trimester!

Speaking of that, I got swollen ankles today. Already?! I am surprised since I am only 26 weeks and with my dd I didn't get it until 35. I did a lot of yard work yesterday and am very sore today so maybe my moving less to compensate is causing some of the issue? Other than that severe reflux and upper right quadrant pain is giving me some grief but all those little kicks are oh so reassuring. I hope you guys in your first trimester get to feel those soon!

Manna: yes, I have 5 living children and another on the way. Praying this will be the 6th.

Yesterday I had a migraine for over half the day. Now today I woke up feeling gross. It's reassuring for now, but I've still got many more weeks to go before I can hear the heartbeat.

Hi all smile.gif our trip is going well, we are in titusville fl and heading to Ikea today in Orlando, then heading home. We decided to cancel key west and Disney since he dr didn't love the idea and I sat in a wheel chair at Kennedy space center all day yesterday. My almost 14 year old pushed me around most of the day and I made sure she knew how much we appreciated her help!!
Our hotel room's AC was broken the first night (we have to get 2 rooms with adjoining doors bc there's 7 of us) and they tried to fix it last night about 8p but it was broken again by midnight greensad.gif so we had to turn it off. Oh well home later today or tomorrow morning for sure.
I sold our bedroom furniture in a FB group and DH is going to keep his vacation this week to get our bedroom redone and I'm pumped about that.

URiver, sorry you've been contracting already, I hope that's not a pattern this pregnancy greensad.gif

Shiloh, glad you've decided to get the ultrasound and I hope it relieves some stress.

MAnna, it's ok to be upset and I'm sure Innocent knows you weren't blaming him!!

TDE, take it easy mama!! Swelling already sucks and yep 3rd trimester is almost here!! I love LoVE planting new things (:

J&J hope you, DH and Julian had a wonderful Easter, mama!! Love your adorable belly!!

Hi everyone else!!! Oh yeah, we aren't buying anything new for baby but don't have a swing or bouncer so I bought a used bouncer. I found a combo I loved from the Fisher-Price Zen collection and after our preterm labor scare DH agreed to let me get it (I used my Paypal balance from eBay sells). So I guess something good did come from our crapy test results. (:

M Anna - Vent away! It's ok. :-)

talldarkeyes - Thank you! I appreciate that. I woke up this morning feeling some kind of way....I had some swelling when we went to New Orleans a few weeks ago. I was only about 14 weeks then. Maybe it was all the work you did. I attributed mine to travelling and a lot of walking.

100%mom - I got a migraine yesterday too..only mine didn't go away and I'm suffering through it right now. They are the worst when preggers.

Tenk - Yay for a fun VACAY!!! Continue to take it easy! :-)

AFM: Today is week 17. I'm in a mood. Probably because this was the last week of my pregnancy last time. I think once I get to Monday, I'll feel better...hopefully. I just feel some kinda of way. It's weird.

100%mom: Oh, we're almost twins then. I have 5 LC too, hoping this will be the 6th. I have only lost two babies though (I see you've lost three). I hope this is it for both of us!

Thebyr: Understand this will be a hard week. ((hugs))

Tenk: Cool about getting your bedroom redone! Enjoy the rest of your vacation!

TDE: I hope I get to feel all those things too! I only got to 13 weeks with the last two pregnancies, too early to feel kicks (although I heard one on doppler right near the end).

AFM: Still not having any nausea. Just fatigue and sore breasts. I know I never get much and it usually doesn't start until after 6 weeks (which I am just after now) but it sure would be reassuring to have a few more signs. Frankly I'm kind of tired of the first trimester. It's been over six years since I got to move on! I can't wait to need maternity clothes, feel kicks, get heartburn, etc. I had always said that my last pregnancy (this is probably it) I would relish every minute, but frankly, after two losses at the end of the first trimester, I'm just hunting around for the fast-forward button. I'm going to try hunting for the heartbeat with the doppler at 8 weeks. Two more weeks...

Yep. it's like, "Okay, passed that milestone. Phew. When's the next one when's the next one hurry up when's the next one? Okay, got through that one. When's the next one?" It's awful.

My doctor called and my progesterone last week (5w4d) was 80!!! If I hadn't seen an u/s with only one sac I'd think there was more than one in there! Wow!

x2 on that Harmony. I wanted so badly to enjoy it all but kept checking off the milestones and looking to the next without fully appreciating the moment. Ohh how I wish I could time travel back and re-experience being pregnant again, it was so wonderful.

M Anna - I'm way behind on the news, but CONGRATULATIONS!!! So glad to see you here. Yay yay yay, babies babies babies! Praying for that baby to make it here safe and sound in November.

superbeans - I'm even farther behind on your news, CONGRATULATIONS to you too! For some reason I'd filed away in my brain that you had decided to adopt instead. Regardless, so happy for you, yay!

Ugh, March was not a good month for keeping up with the thread. I got so far behind I kinda gave up hope of catching up and look what I missed!! I had my first day back to work today and my dad stayed home with the baby. It was exciting and sad all at the same time. I would've cried if I hadn't recently read from another mom who said that she had to go back to work when her first baby was 6 weeks old and when the second was 4 years old and they were both hard. I decided there was no point in trying to cajole my work into letting me have more time off because it would be hard to part from baby for the day, either way, and I'd be better to save their good graces for family accommodations along the way. I got to spend the first 12 weeks with her and that's more than any of my friends have been able to manage so in some ways we were lucky. I'd be a liar if I said it didn't feel a little good to be back at work using my brain for something non-mommy-related. Just a little good, though. winky.gif

Hi, autumngrey! Glad you had your rainbow! I had the least time at home with my oldest son: I had to go back to work when he was 2 weeks old. I was still bleeding a lot and trying to pump. It was really hard. Thank GOD I am (God willing) not going to have to worry about that this time. ((((hugs)))))

Autumngrey We were foster parents long before we started TTCing, and finalized our kids adoption (after nearly 3.5 years as their foster parents) last year while TTCing. so I can see why you thought that. Congrats on your little one!!! And hope the transition back to work is smooth as possible.

Yay Autumngrey! So happy you got your rainbow.

Woot Woot M Anna! I never did get a progesterone check. I wonder what it was/is. lol Congrats! That's great. I often wish I could blink my eyes and open them at 36 weeks. There is a lot of pregnancy I haven't experienced yet.. but I'd be okay with that if I could just get a baby here safe and sound. I get it.

AFM - I was so nauseous, tired and migrainey yesterday - I didn't cook Easter dinner. So guess what I just finished doing... Cornish Hen, Greens, Mac n Cheese and Dressing. I haven't had a meal like this in SOOOOOOO long. So excited. My house smells awesome. Baby seems to be moving a lot... I often feel like I have a ball on one side of my pelvis or the other and LOTS of soft kicking.

Silly me was wondering where everyone was. Hello it's another month!
Tde I bet it was all the bending that led to swelling...
This kid is really blooming in there, getting big so fast! Can't believe it and I keep saying I'm not going to make it to my due date. Gaining 1 lb a week.
M Anna I've been thinking about anniv date too, it's coming up may 23.
Tenk I'm glad u cut it short, I was worried about u and that trip. Disney is tough for a in shape parent of 1, let alone you with kids inside and out...
