Subscribing! Went to my 17 week appt today and all still looks good. Great heartbeat and lots of movement against the doppler even though I can't feel it yet.  Dr. wants me to get the flu shot. I have never gotten one and never gotten horribly ill either. What are all of you ladies doing about the flu shot?

Pattimomma such good news!
37 weeks on Wednesday!!!
I'm so ready to be done!
Its not 100% real that this all ends in a baby but the psychiatrist said that's so normal. Induction on the 11th. I'm half wanting to go into labor on my own like at 9am tomorrow...

8 might be enough

Hi, thank you - we're doing OK but she had a bit of a setback due to infection which has been hard. However, she is now a whopping 4lbs and has started going to the breast - its a long road with good days and not so good days, but we're getting there. Constant expressing is exhausting but worth it.

Me and hubby, plus ds 6, angel dd, little mc angels and finally our little rainbow baby, 30 weeker miracle.

Good to hear from you sienna. Glad she's gaining. Hang in there.

Planegreen, I've never gotten the flu shot and don't plan to this year either. I got it for one of my kids last year and he still got every sickness that the others got.

Shiloh, I'm sure you can't wait for next week. At least you have a date set now that you know. This pg has felt like It's lasting a life time. I'm really hoping to go early, but anytime after 37 wks. I may start climbing stairs for a living Nov. 1st. smile.gif that's when the midwife has me at 37.

Wow-7 babies due this month and 6 next month!!!

Shiloh-yay.  Still loosing plug-are you seeing more of it like a light af?  Any cramping/ctx?  Lol, dh would be on board with that, wow. I have no desire to bd.  I get that disconnected feeling too, like it's just not real.  I'm so glad it's normal.

Planegreen-up to you.  Coverage is pretty pathetic, a lot of people still get sick regardless, probably from a different flue strain going around, or just other virus.   If you decide, make sure it's metal and h1n1 free.  The vax board would have more info.  When we come home we wash our hands right away, before we eat, avoid kissing others and hugging if possible, stuff like that.  Helps.  We also avoid sugar and most processed foods.

You'll probably feel movement soon :)  I think we were around then when I started feeling movement finally.  Do you know where your placenta is?

Sienna-hang in there momma (hugs)

Afm-33wks, though u/s &lmp say 34.  It's going to be an issue if for some reason baby decides to come early with all these ctx.  I'm wondering just how much they would effect going into labor early.  He's fine and moving around, and staying in the right position, so that's all good for me.

In the same, it's just not real boat.  I know he's going to be here not too long from now, feel him moving around, but some days I feel detached and for me it's fear related.  Then I feel bad for being detached.  But I feel like I went from crazy nesting to shut down and wanting to delay everything, like ordering diapers or cancelling the baby shower till he's here.  But I have to prep the dipes and really should have pp stuff.  Just strange thoughts.

Having a lot of ctx.  Hot flashes are appearing, not sure if pregnancy or heart related. Super tired, it's crazy.  I wake up and feel like I could take a nap a few hours later, then a few more hours later.  All my labs are great though.

Yay Sienna - great news. The breast will help her grow even more.

Yesterday at baby byr's 1 month his ped suggested mothering.com as a good resource. Lol.. If she only knew. Love her already.

3 more weeks of maternity leave. It's not enough. I don't get much time online - so I'm glad to see you're all doing so well.

Happy October!!!

I'm so geeked to be in the "congrats" section - especially after spending so much time in the other sections.

planegreen, As far as flu shots go, my whole family is getting them this year. With 5 kids in school and DH working as a paramedic we need to be covered. Last year only my oldest DD and I got flu shots. The rest of the family got the flu and the younger the kid the harder it was on them. I was really scared for my 18 month old, she was so ill. I am hoping to avoid a massive family flu outbreak while in third trimester or with a newborn in the house. fever.gif

shiloh, You are almost there! I hear you on the pregnancy denial. I have told my husband that I will probably give birth, look at the baby and say "I think I was pregnant" LOL "think" like I still won't be sure! :Sheepish

sienna, She's going to the breast so despite the set backs it sounds like there has absolutely been cumulative improvement!:thumb

hippy mum, I understand about the nesting and detachment. :HugAlthough I am only 20 weeks I have started a mass clean out and purge of my house. I don't think I will be able to prepare actual baby stuff until the last few weeks but I just want to get rid of all the crap we have accumulated. With all the bags and boxes coming out of the house you would think it is empty but no we still have tons of stuff.

AFM - :irked I went with my whole family to my 20 week 3D/4D ultrasound this morning just to find out that they should never have scheduled me for today because the ultrasound tech comes every other Tuesday! I couldn't even see the doctor because he was away delivering a baby. The baby part I can understand but scheduling me with the tech on a day that she isn't there and then not even calling me to reschedule Cuss.gif I am now scheduled for next Tuesday so I have to take off time from work again.

Sienna, sounds like she's growing like a weed smile.gif I hope you guys continue to have more good days than stressful ones!!

M Anna, had to respond to this. Regarding the steroid shots. Camden was born at 36 weeks four days according to ultrasound I opted to get the steroids to ensure his lungs were mature. As soon as he came out via C-section they took him to do that car and wrap them up and brought him right back to my chest. Both of my arms were actually free and I held him on my chest skin to skin while they stitched me up. In three C-sections I've never had staples only stitches. This is the first time baby was laid directly on my chest at birth though. I kept him in just a diaper on my skin and my chest for the first 24 full hours and he latched immediately. Breast-feeding him has been easier than all of my other babies combined maybe because we had skin to skin for 24 full hours afterwards. I do think you're going to be required to have someone in the room with you if baby stays in your room for the first 24 hours. The reason that is is because it's very hard to move quickly after C-section and sometimes when they start choking or something they need to be picked up very fast. We opted out of of vitamin K l, Hep B, and the eye appointment because he was not born vaginally so there was no need for the eye ointment. I think things are going to go great for you and I can't wait to hear about the birth of your sweet baby.

Hola to everyone else and I can't wait to read about the upcoming birth stories!!

Tenk ~ happily married with lots of kids

I realized today that when the tech did the u/s, he had to put the wand thing basically on my pelvic bone to measure the head.  Might as well have done a vaginal, lol.  It was weird.

MAnna-lol.

100%-second MAnna.  A little envious.  We really want a bigger vehicle but can't right now.  Perhaps soon, end of or beginning of year.  The baby's car seat just fits in behind the passenger and no one tall could comfortably sit there.

Cervix length/delivery week?-I can't remember who it was-(maybe J&J? or Thebyer) who was doing self checks.  I've had two very different effacement/dilation situations with my kids and know a lot can change in the last tri.  Curiosity got the better of me though and after reading how to check for e&d, it seems my cervix is maybe 1-2cm (about the diameter of a quarter) and about 2.5 cm long-from my index finger tip to 1st knuckle.  Most of what I found online (should probably stay away from online, lol) is that 2.5cm long at 33wks is an early indicator of a 36.5-37wk delivery?  Very few refs said it was normal, a few woman reported going to 38wks.  I don't think the tech measured my cervix length, but wondering if I should ask my mw to check length next week.  I'm not a fan of internals much at all, but now super curious.  Though, with ds1 I was very effaced only a month out and it was worrisome.  Went to 40 though & induction.  This time I have so many more ctx, it's ridiculous and I really think might make a difference on delivery week.  Just looking for input on self checking, or if anyone's dr/mw said cervix was short this late on and you delivered around 37wks and was all ok?

hippy mum: Obviously cervical checks are forbidden for me right now but I know mine was pretty long at my last u/s (31 wks). I walked around at 4 cm and 50% effaced from 36-37 weeks on with my last LC and he was only born at 39+4 because he was induced. I suspect it's pretty individual.

Re: the vehicle, we had a Plymouth Voyager (seats 7) for the longest time and we completely filled it, but we only got another vehicle when it completely died (last November). DH went for the gusto, lol!

We just traded in a 7 seater mini van for a 9 passenger SUV. Personally, I would have went for a 12 seater van, but my husband wanted the SUV. This is #6 so we were maxed out in the minivan and needed another seatbelt for baby. smile.gif It's seeming more and more real that a baby is coming!

As for self checks, this is the 1st baby I've tried with and I think I'm closed still. With #1 I was at 2 or 3 at 35 wks, born at 36.4. #2 was 2 or 3 at 36 wks, 5 for a while and born at 39.1 wks. #3 I was a 1 at 38 wks and born at 39 wks. Wasn't checked with #4 or #5. My fastest labor was #3 and I was the least dialated that I know of. That convinced me checks mean nothing.

Tahoe and suburban can both come with 9 seatbelts. I had a 9 passenger Tahoe prior to my current minivan.

Hippy, I was 75% effaced from 31 weeks until my c section at 36+4.

Hope all is well ladies

We're getting DH's parents eight-seater Chevy Astro. orngbiggrin.gif Brings back some memories b/c that's the van my parents had when I was in high school, lol. i remember my mom white-knuckling it the first time I drove it (just on neighborhood streets, and parking in the driveway instead of the garage, but she was still terrified, lol). We're currently stuffed into a five-seater Scion and the kids poke at each other, which makes me twitchy, so they need a little space from each other.

Hippy I did attempt to check a few times when I was 35&36w but, I could never find my cervix. I could find it back when ttc. My ob did an internal and said cervix was way high so no wonder I couldn't find it plus big belly was in the way. I know I was extremely effaced for a long time and induction went quick. I'm realizing how much pain I was in daily for so long. But we moms just suck it up and I was happy to be having another kiddo.
Ladies that won't make it to 40 w: the premature lungs is a 5% chance at 37 weeks so I think I took one for the team and u all will be fine!

It wasn't me hippy. My doc didn't even check me. I have no idea if I was ever dilated.
