This is the November 2013 pregnancy thread for ALL graduates of the "Hoping, Healing & Conceiving Again" threads, or anyone who has suffered a loss and has found themselves expecting again. Here we can discuss our concerns and problems in the safety and company of other mamas like us. Compare BETA results, our prenatal screens, show off our scans, and in what seems like a lifetime away - our newborn baby pictures.

****If you are a new poster, just let me know your EDD IN BOLD, and I'll update at the start of each week.**** Due date calculator with luteal phase length.

Just as a reminder, please post any updates that you'd like the threadkeeper to add or change in bold.

We have a FB group for sharing whatever you'd like in a private setting. If you'd like to join, you can find us here.
Congratulations!!!:joy

Hey everyone!  I'm still following along.  I haven't had any morning sickness...just some food aversions and fatigue.  I force myself to exercise at least 30 minutes a day but it's definitely my least favorite thing ever.  I'm trying not to worry about the umbilical cord cyst they saw at my last ultrasound.  Hopefully it goes away on its own before my follow up ultrasound on Monday.  I hope everyone is doing well.  It's so fun to hear from everyone who just had or is about to have their babies!  AAAHHHHH!!  So exciting! :)

Hi Eazer - yay for no morning sickness! That is soo nice! Mine wasn't bad until about 8-9 weeks, but it was no fun at all around that time. So you may well have come out scott free on that one! I'm so impressed you are exercising so much! I'm lucky to get a walk in every day taking my son to school. I hope you can let go of the anxiety about that cyst. I have not heard of that one but hopefully it really is nothing to worry about. Keep us updated!

As for thread maintenance, I have taken off people who have been MIA and have EDDs of more than 6 months ago. How long should we keep birth announcements? Maybe a year? And for the in our thoughts section, I was thinking we should also write down the month of the loss so that we keep track of that as well (though hopefully that section will gain no new members)!

For any lurkers, please feel free to join us! We have suspiciously few people with more recent BFPs, and would love to welcome you to this board!

Yay congrats to our new mama's and babies

Porcelina, I think all that stuff sounds like a very reasonable idea.

I am also in support of newer people/lurkers coming on up, it's not as scary as it might seem, and the more newbies we have, the more newbie talk we'll have ;)

afm- my birthday is in two days. I will be working a 10 hour day, and we have absolutely no money to do any celebrating but I have two healthy children, a healthy mate, and a healthy baby growing inside me. I'll take it!

Sorry - just back home today and no wifi signal in hospital (and my computer was in the shop!) I had DH post an update on my blog but that's the only thing he could get onto while I was out of commission.

Catherine Rose was born on October 31 at 8:09 AM, weighing 6 pounds, 7 ounces and 19 inches long. She had a rough start nursing but we're doing better now. I've had MAJOR pain issues but hopefully that will start easing up. We just got home this afternoon and I've slept almost the entire time (I was so sleep deprived from the hospital). The pediatrician heard a murmur the day after she was born and they did an echo. It showed a small ventricular septal defect. It's not affecting her and they'll just watch it.

I'll go back and some point and read everyone's updates!

Here are a few pictures:

Aww, Manna, she is brilliant and perfect!!! Congratulations to you and your family!!
VSD is what Camden had until right before birth as well and all is good now, she'll do great. Also, pain after a section is rough, especially a first one greensad.gif my first was by far the most difficult. It's very important to keep it dry and clean. I used to wake up very sweaty in the middle of the night and just get up and shower right then. I used dial for its antibacterial agents and would wash my abdomen and let the soapy water run down (never actually rubbing the incision) then use a hair dryer to make sure it was 100% dry. I've also had 2 incision infections and it's worse than miserable greensad.gif so washing after sweating and drying with a hair dryer was the smartest thing I could've done this time around (no infection smile.gif. I'm so happy you finally have your rainbow !!

Tenk, that's a good idea to keep the area dry smile.gif Oh I remember the night sweats, they're already starting, but not as bad as pp. It's good to see you, hope all is well.

Manna, Lll suggests no pacis for 6 wks till latching is established. Especially since she had a rough nursing start and was "early term", you may want ti consider it till all is great nursing. It's harder with csec, so make sure you have some help around and a lc to call if needed.
Hope the pain is tolerable soon. I can't imagine nursing cramps on top of surgery pain. Maybe some rice socks would help? They stay warm for a long time and they're dry too.
She's adorable smile.gif Were you able to have the csec you wanted? You look so happy.

100%-it's the end of the weekend! I get swelling at night or if I've been doing a lot of crouching/standing. The next morning it's gone and has only been in my feet.

Selissa-I hope the new mommas aren't hiding. It really does seem like a labor thread, there's just a handful of us due this month smile.gif Maybe Nov will bring another group of pos preg tests smile.gif

Afm-38 wks! Still have blood in mucus but not much else for labor signs. Have spurts of energy to get things done, then make myself rest. I feel like it can be any time with this bloody show, but who knows. Ds was 39 wks so I figure maybe 1 more week? It's exciting either way smile.gif
Oh, I think we got my inlaws to agree to wait till Dec. Fingers crossed.

Nice to see you too, can't wait to hear your good news smile.gif

My suggestions come from personal experience with incision infection. The Dr actually had to dig holes in my incision to drain the puss from behind it, I cried my eyes out (2008) on top of that it can make you feel flu like just like mastitis. It truly is awful!!

Cross posting from fb this morning:

A general story and update:

Thank you (and thank you for all your well-wishes)! There was no problem getting the placenta to detach, thank God. I didn't ask how it was going during the section because I didn't want to distract them! After a point I realized that it must be going ok because it if it wasn't they would have already called for a hyst tray and the blood. I missed the initial incision (which, thankfully, I didn't feel!) because I was throwing up from low BP. They got that fixed quickly and cleaned me up. I looked to the other side after that and realized Father was in the room. I reassured him I was fine and then I wondered when they were going to start. As I did I smelled the electric cautery and realized they had! It was so quick (but of course, I was distracted at the beginning). It didn't take long at all.

She had a rough start nursing. The lactation consultant that we called in assured me I was doing everything perfectly but she just had a problem being too sleepy. I couldn't do the normal "undress to nurse" because she had problems keeping her temp up. We wiggled around and worked around the problem until she started waking up a bit more and holding up her temp. The issues didn't last much more than 24 hours. She's doing beautifully now, both temp and nursing-wise.

(People who worry about seeing the photos of her with paci should be assured that she always had a great latch and still does. She seems to have higher oral needs rather like our first baby. We didn't pull out the paci until day 3.)

My pain issues stemmed from having an unfortunately combination of events: My doctor, with whom I'd gone over my birth plan, had to leave right after the c/s to drive to TX for board reviews (or something). The one who took over is very much on the enthusiastic end of things. So that first night and next day I had an enthusiastic doctor...AND a nurse who wasn't as familiar with him. She mostly nurses in LA. The other nurses here know to reign in that doctor but she didn't. Anyway, between the two of them, they had me up, walking to the bathroom, catheter out, heplock out, and exclusively on oral pain meds by the first night after surgery. It was just too much. The pain got ahead of the pain meds and I spent most of Friday in absolute agony. The nurse I had that day was very confused as to why I was advancing so quickly and assumed I had begged for it or something. (no) True, it said in my birth plan that I wanted the catheter out and put on oral pain meds sooner rather than later, but I had gone over it with my doctor and we agreed that everything would start the morning after surgery, not the night before. I was perfectly content with that. I couldn't get back on the computer and adjust the birth plan because my computer was in the shop, so I just brought the other copy. It didn't occur to me that with my doctor being out of town, someone else would come in and completely change all of my orders. Blast. Anyway, the nurse on Friday got me a shot of Toradol and got my pain meds changed from Lortab 7.5 q4 PRN to Lortab 10 q3 PRN. She advised (and we agreed) that I make sure to take it every three hours until we got completely on top of the pain. Between the three of us (me, Father and the nurse) we figured out what had gone wrong. I was relieved that the increasing pain was a result of everything having gone much too quickly rather than some pathological process like a large hematoma building up under the incision or something. Now that I'm home I'm also taking IBU 600 every morning and evening (and they put me on Vicodin prn). I'm feeling a million times better right now mostly because I've finally had enough sleep. I slept several hours after I got home yesterday and got plenty of sleep last night. Catherine is a very considerate baby.

By the way, the incision is beautiful. I had assumed that when she agreed to stitches, not staples, she would be putting in the standard black sutures that would have to be removed after several days. Nope - she did the internal ones so you can barely see the incision! There's some dependent bruising, but that's to be expected. Lovely job.

Catherine has a small VSD but it isn't affecting her pressures or sats at all. They did an echo Friday. The pediatrician is just recommending a f/u echo in two months. We see him for her first appt tomorrow.

Two of the girls stayed home from church this morning to help me and I'm not planning on doing anything but moving from bed to chair/couch to bathroom. My bowels finally moved last night but unfortunately it was entirely loose. Still, better than not going!

Manna, wow. That's great you're home already. She has a high oral need for a reason, just keep nursing away even if it seems like alot. Our first had a high need, he was attached to me for weeks it seems-very little sleep getting up every one half-two hours for him. Second one wasn't as high need.
So glad your pain is under control smile.gif What a mix up at the hospital.
Hope the appt apt goes well smile.gif She sounds strong and you can do skin to skin now?

!00%-I know, it's crazy.

Yay-family not coming till Dec!!! Of course now baby won't come till 42 weeks lol.

I literally just logged on to see if M Anna had posted. YAY Catherine Rose is here!!! Don't feel bad about that paci - you have to do what you have to do. When I realized at week 4 that baby b liked to comfort nurse - we broke it out. There was no way I could send him to my mother needing me 24/7 a few weeks later. We even had latch issues in the beginning... but I kept nursing and he's just fine. She's GORGEOUS M Anna!! I love that her birthday is the week after mine. :-)

HEY EVERYONE!!!
