Better late than never, right!? :Sheepish

Yesterday ended up being a very frustrating day of running around and accomplishing nothing. Today ended up being a long day of nesting, brought on by a forecast of -50 degree windchills for this weekend through Monday!! Brrr-effen-brrrr! I cleaned, I baked, I cooked, hell I even washed the dogs and made some homemade body scrub! And now the winds are howling, my youngest is sleeping and DH and DD are out to a basketball game so I get some alone time.

I didn't change anything in the first post from what had last been updated so let me know if someone is missing.

So aside from the nesting, not much new here. My next appt/ultrasound is not until the 16th. I can finally feel baby kick a bit more and can sometimes tell the direction she is laying but not able to tell parts from each other yet. Unisom helped me with sleeping the first night I took it but last night I think it just made me slightly less conscious while I tossed and turned. Tonight I was going to taking Tylenol with it and going to bed a little later and getting up later. try to cut down on the actual time I am in my bed until I can barely stay awake anymore and then get up before I get to sore or restless. We will see. I mixed up some bath salts today and some scrubs so I might try those before bed too.

Hope everyone had a good New Years! champagne.gif

BaileyB, I also found the weeks updating a little difficult because everyone changes at different times, so no one person is ever really up to date! I would be okay with deleting the weeks and just keeping the EDDs...

This is off topic and totally non-pregnancy related but is anybody else really sick of being everybody else's punching bag and really sick of being the bigger person/better person/going above and beyond with no recognition? Because I am having one of those days where I feel like I am just sick of hearing it from everyone and everywhere I go. Like completely O.V.E.R. it.

And went to my first midwife appointment and we heard a heartbeat! Wasn't expecting it with my tilted uterus! So breathing a tiny bit easier, but won't totally relax til the second trimester, wait no until viable outside the womb, nope full term, no wait born safe, no until after age 1 when SIDS risk is over. Crap! I won't stop worrying until s/he is happily married, gainfully employed and has given me a grandchild!

So happy for you that you were able to hear the heartbeat :)

Two more days and hopefully I will get to see baby and it's beautiful heartbeat! hoping that I will actually be able to start feeling like this baby is real and really going to happen at that point.

So so so tired.:zzz Today was my first day back to work geek.gif after the holiday break.

@Thebyr - I'm 34 weeks tomorrow. @BaileyB hasn't had time to update the header. I think @porcelina's suggestion to just remove the week count would be helpful, it's a hard thing to keep up with. But yes I am almost there and time has flown by!:dizzy

@Serenyd - The final count down is on :energy

AFM - I have been reading along but not posting. A lot has been happening for me. As some of you know one of my losses was to adoption. I placed a baby many years ago and suffer PTSD as a result. Recently a CNN reporter contacted my therapist, who happens to be a well know adoption reform advocate and triad specialist - http://www.lesliepatemackinnon.com/, looking to do a human interest story on a birth mother. Leslie recommended me because in her opinion I am healthy and strong enough to deal with telling the story and the exposure. I was warned that it would only be a short story thus not containing all the details. I learned a lot from the media process. After I told the story to the reporter it went through numerous rounds of edits and came out on the other side as something familiar but not entirely about me. Some of the details were completely wrong, others were omitted, a few were exactly right. It was a little frustrating and then the comment section of the article was filled by hate and derogatory comments. I worked through my feelings about the nasty comments pretty quickly and got to a point where I realized it just didn't matter. Then I got a lovely email, forwarded to me by the the reporter, from a birth mother in Canada who was touched by my story and could very much empathize. That one message really made me feel good about going public even if the story wasn't quite right. If you want to see it http://www.cnn.com/2013/12/28/living/moments-that-changed-lives/

Additionally, I have been going a lot with my 13 year old special needs son. He has been very depressed and acting out as a result. This means I don't know where I am going to deliver the baby in 6 weeks. I want to be at home but if he has one of his melt downs while I am in labor then I will go to the hospital. I have to have peace at my delivery. My last three deliveries were at home and I really dread the hospital but I don't know what else to do if he loses it. No one will let him come to their house so home is the only place for him.

More later . . .

Thanks for mentioning getting rid of the weekly stats. I forgot I was thread keeper :W.

AFM: Almost 22 weeks and I am so struggling with clothes! I am just sick of wearing sweats all day everyday but also not wanting to spend money on clothes I won't ever wear again. About a month ago I ordered some pants online, they came, they were huge, they got returned. Then I just ordered some shoes and they were too small, got returned. Now I just ordered some maternity maxi dresses that I thought at least I could wear around the house when I wanted to feel pretty, they came, they were huge, they are getting returned. :irked I went to Old Navy tonight to look around and found some that I wanted to get, went on my phone to double check my balance and it was at $0 when it def shouldn't be. Now they are holding them for me until tomorrow. Momma just wants to get dressed!!! Is that too much to ask?

Aw, Patti, I just read the story. I can probably guess which of those statements are the ones that are spot on -- those that are the most powerful. Huge hugs to you. What you went through with that pregnancy and birth must have been the hardest of your losses. So very devastating to have to hand over your little one. I hope it is true that one day you will be able to begin a relationship with your baby and that it will be healing for both of you. I know you have been through so much and just want to send you lots and lots of hugs. I hope that you are able to have the home birth that you desire, and that you are able to bond with your new arrival instantly when he gets here.hug.gif

BaileyB, I know the feeling of not having anything to wear! I get so frustrated with maternity shopping! I have about 3 shirts that I like and the rest of the clothes I tolerate. The pants are all uncomfortable and fall down or else are too tight on the belly. Yuck. It was much easier being third trimester in the summer and wearing dresses/loose skirts all the time!

OSTC, fingers crossed for you!!

taichimom, great news!! Nothing like seeing that heartbeat for the first time!

jildez, hope Thea is doing well!

AFM, I finally gave in and went to a chiropractor. Why did I wait so long?? I had so much lower back pain! Well, she is a miracle worker, and I felt soooooo much better after the first treatment on Monday. I go back on Friday for the second, and can't wait!!! I had this pain with my last pregnancy, and I think I nipped it in the bud a lot sooner. But, thankfully, I am there now and feeling much better! Now, if I could just get rid of the heartburn!! Today is particularly bad, though I had coke zero for the first time in weeks and I think that may have had something to do with it. Baby is kicking up a storm, quite hard today!!

Lol bailey on the getting dressed! And amen to rid of the weekly changes. I never understood that.
Pattimomma ill read your links tomorrow. My sister was in the media big time and facts were very wrong. Frustrating. And blogs were very not nice. I lost sleep over it. I'm glad u overcame so fast!
Hi porcelina-again today I told the story of u urging me to take a pregnancy test on my 30th birthday! I don't even know u but will remember u forever!

@BaileyB - I hate winter maternity clothes :irked Nothing fits and nothing is comfortable. I am outgrowing my maternity clothes, it happened during my last pregnancy too. My belly just gets too big for things to fit over it appropriately. I so prefer being largely pregnant in the summer when flowing loose dresses are available.

@porcelina - Thanks for the support. Bonding with my newborns is one of the things they got wrong. I told the reporter that I have trouble bonding with the baby during pregnancy (while it's a fetus). Once baby is on the outside I have no problem bonding and am probably overly attached/protective. Oh well shrug.gif  I'm headed back to the chiropractor next Saturday. I really need to be going twice a week but it's a little out of budget right now. I'm glad they were able to help you. I :stillheart my chiropractor! I've had some heartburn this pregnancy but it's not nearly as bad as it was last time. They say there is some truth to the old wives tale that heart burn means that you are having a hairy baby :wink

Hi @J and Js mommy! I have been stalking you over on the rainbow babies thread. I guess it won't be long until I am over there too :Rainbow

Porcelina - we are planning another UC.

Pattimomma - sounds about par for the course on news stories. They always mess something up.  And don't worry about the trolls, I know it is upsetting, but these people just log on with the purpose of writing nasty things. They don't care about who or what. I've outgrown a lot of my maternity clothes too. I'm currently in a large-xl and started in an M. I've gained around 45 lbs so far.

I'm excited that my due is so close but also distracted with finishing up projects and chores around here. I'm sure I'll stay busy until the end. I'm working up until 39 weeks too.

Welcome everyone!

It was so cool to help you figure that out!! And so great that it was on your birthday!! Oh, and I saw your post on the rainbow mommies thread about being scared to death of home birth due to what you have gone through with your two -- DH and I are the same way! We could never commit to HB!

@pattimomma, isn't it weird how reporters can listen to you and then get it so wrong? I talked to a media source about my last loss and was not very pleased on how I was represented. So, at least in your case some of it is right on. I hear you on the difficulty bonding in utero, I know you have said that before. I am just starting to warm up to the idea, but mentally I still think it's just the 4 of us in our family and it stops there. I really don't know if I'll believe otherwise until it happens. Anyway, glad you touched someone so much she reached out to you -- there are probably at least 5 more who were touched and didn't reach out. And, I think you also helped some people understand some of the circumstances and emotions around adoption.

I've been lurking, and just wanted to come say *hugs* to @pattimomma. I get a lot of crap for placing my son for adoption, so I know the feeling. You gave 'us' a voice though, and kudos for that! I never would have spoken up about how I felt regarding my situation if it hadn't been for another local woman (coincidentally, also named Patti!) who spoke up about her own experience.

Ultrasound this morning! Can't sleep anymore... To on edge... Really nervous that I have to go by myself as both my husband and mom had work stuff that they couldn't not do today... And I'm scared of getting bad news and being all alone... Really hope it's all good.

Hi all!

I am exactly two weeks from my due date - I can't believe it. There is sooo much to get done before that time!

@pattimomma I read the article and give you major kudos for sharing your story! I'm glad someone reached out to you and told you what an effect you had on them! I bet there are more that you will never hear from either.

@OSTC Congrats on the happy u/s!!!!

On the clothes thing, I am totally there with you all. I have decided that I as well much preferred being pregnant in the summer! Not so much stress about what to wear! I am in the biggest clothes I had from my last full term pregnancy and with still 2 more months to go! Oy! I hope I can make it through, I really don't want to have to buy more stuff! :(

Last month I had come by asking if anyone had experience with ring worm during pregnancy. I am still dealing with that. Tried three treatments with my OB and none worked so went off to see a family practice doctor today. I think I hit the jackpot with who I got in to see. She seemed to know everything about "skin diseases". Starting a steroid cream today, followed by a skin biopsy on Monday morning. Really hoping something starts to work. One awesome fact she told me that calmed my #1 worry is that since this is NOT ring worm, it is not contagious to anyone around me. I've been worried about my girls or DH catching it and luckily they can't! Phew. Now hoping the cream works.

Yay OSTC!!!! I'll be in the same boat in a few weeks when I get my 12 week NT scan. Of course next week I'll be doing the Harmony test and I will be a wreck until I get the results.

Love my new midwife- totally respectful and helpful. Need to tour the hospital though. But have heard good things. I had a Homebirth before but I just feel safer delivering in a hospital. Just my gut feeling on this one....
