We have long suspected it but we got A's diagnoses and he is firmly on the spectrum.  He does several stimming behaviors but the past few weeks he has been doing somehting new.  He will stop what ever he is doing and run from the east side of the house hit the door let out a scream then grunt, then run to the west side of the house hit the door let out a scream then grunt.  He does this several times in a row and then just quietly goes back to what ever he was doing.  I have tried stopping him, hitting doors that hard = not so good for the doors or his fists, but he becomes enraged if I do.  I have also tried to see if maybe this is a sign that he just needs more physical activity and spend more time outside running and doing other physical activities.  It doesn't seem to make a difference within 30 minutes he is back to the behavior.  He does this multiple times a day, at least 6 times but sometimes more often.

Anyone got any ideas or feedback?

I think that would be considered a compulsion. I don't think that general physical activity would make a difference as it probably isn't related to pent up energy.
