but let me share my story.

When my severely autistic son was born, every "specialist" every "neurologist" every professional told me he would do nothing aside from sit in a chair.  They told me he would never walk talk potty train run or communicate.

My son is now 19 he walks he works electronics he is potty trained  he has use of his hands. He runs he does not talk.  He does however communicate.

Thats a product of eastern and western medicine.  No one structure knows every last thing. Autism is an every changing every growing thing to which seems different in every child that it affects.  In no way do we change that by casting aspersions on one another and not sharing our own experiences.

Now I believe the woman asked about our experiences with DE.  I mix De with water and use it on his face as a paste.  I leave it on for two minutes and then wash it off daily.  Tim has had severe acne that the doctors have not been able to control with everything they have from 500 creams to antibiotics.  The De paste has it almost healed.  The DE does not make him walk talk or turn cartwheels but it does make him immediately calmer.  I mix it with nesquick and milk.  Timothy can be self injurious and after a dose of Diotamaceous Earth he seems to lack that need to hurt himself. So far after a month that has been my experience.

This is really helpful, thanks for sharing your experience.

I found this thread so interesting. We've used DE in treating our animals, and I knew it was safe for human consumption but just had never thought of trying it. In regards to some of the discussion throughout the comments I just wanted to add: I don't ever seek ways to get rid of or 'cure" my childs ASD,but you'd better believe if there are things I can do to help ease the difficulty for HIM,of course I will. We live in an area where services(therapies, etc) are shotty at best. We unschool and try very hard to keep a stimulative environment for our boys(1w/ ASD,2 w/ D syndrome) but we also use vitamins and supplements that do help to lessen some of the common effects RE to ASD(melatonin, niacin, magnesium etc)
