My almost 3 year old has been walking for 2 months now and doing a great job by herself considering all of her issues. For the last two weeks suddenly she stumbles constantly and walks around bumping into everything and constantly falling down (it's as if she were drunk and walking). She has NEVER had this problem and I know she hasn't been walking very long but she was walking perfectly for almost 2 months before now!

She also for the same last two weeks has been having her fingers in her mouth and CONSTANTLY grabbing and touching her tongue. She has never really "mouthed" or chewed on anything but ever since she started being really clumsy, I can't keep her hands out of her mouth.

Does anyone have any ideas what could be causing this? We have already seen the chiro a couple of times thinking she was out of alignment and she has been adjusted and still, no help. Any advice would be great. Thanks!

I don't know what your child's diagnosis is but it sounds neurological in nature.  I'd take her to see, at the very least, your pediatrician - if you can get in quickly to a neuro - I'd do that as well.

She doesn't have an overall dx yet. Noone can figure out what is causing all of her symptoms. Been to neuro and genetics and countless other specialists so far. Right now she has Hypotonic CP, she is profoundly deaf, she had spasmic nutans that she has outgrouwn, she has Duane's anomaly in her eyes, SPD, autonomic dysfunction, polyuria, and global developmental delays. Since she was born her brain MRIs have showed a larger left ventricle and missing white matter in her left fron occipital lobe, this was first thought to be a grade 3 bleed by head ultrasound, but the mri ruled that out. So noone can tell us if her brain just developed that way of if she had an injury in utero.

It is just not normal for her to be this clumsy and she has never mouthed objects or her hands before either. I think I will put a call in to her ped and see if she thinks being seen sooner by neuro would be helpful. Not sure what else to do and I don't have any ideas. Thanks!

Eegs are only helpful, if the individual is having an episode during the test.  Hopefully, your neurologist has more tricks up their sleeve to help you figure out what is going on.  Does your dd have a history of seizures?  Hope it all resolves.

Saw the neuro today. Seizures still suspected so we are going in for an inpatient EEG hopefully within the next month. He's leaning towards complex partial seizures. crap.gif So We will see I suppose. No, she does not have any history of seizures, but as an infant she did have spasmus nutans, and she also has a lot of brain abnormalities from birth.

Sending hugs and prayers to you and your little one.   I know it's scary but once they have a handle on what's going on, you can move towards controlling it.
