11 year old ADHD- plus much more

Hi, it's been a longtime since I have been on here. My son has been diagnosis with ADHD. Hyper mobility of his joints.. He has left side weakness. Speech imparment. I took him to sunny hill, it is a special hospital that evaluates children. It took us 4 years to finally get in there. They told us he is aprocing several different disorders and learning disabilities. But they couldn't diagnosis him with anything. They are doing a genetic blood test. But that's it. We are on our own. No extra help at school or at home. My son can be very charming and he is also very smart. As his parent Iam extremely frustrated and exhausted. He lies, and it is scary because he believes it. What Iam wondering is. How do we cope? i am at my wits end. I am yelling and I dread waking up in the. Morning. I need help learning how to parent my special boy

Wow, that sounds like a hard situation.

I wonder is there is any Children's Mental Health Clinic close to you?

They could help with referrals to psychiatrists or parenting groups. My DS is doing some social skills work with someone, at the moment. Also, they have been a support dealing with the school and getting support there.

That's great!

It's hard how slow dealing with mental health issues is. And I wish someone could hold my hand through the whole process and tell me what to do and who to see.

One thing that I am trying to be on the ball about is keeping a journal about DS's behaviour. What is happening, is it a medication side effect, is it behaviour issue or is it a sensory issue. So when I do have those long waited doctor's appointments, I have concrete examples of what our issues are.
I always feel nervous and unprepared during appointments. ((sigh))

Any favourite books to suggest?

One off the top of my head
Why can I be the parent I want to be.
I found it helpful for me to deal with some of my issues around parenting.
