My daughter was born with glaucoma. It was a 1:10,000 birth event and is caused by a genetic mutation.
Normal eye pressure in a baby is 7. Her eye pressure was 40+
She has had 14 eye surgeries and has 20/100 vision with peripheral vision loss. She also has depth perception problems and needs assistance walking in unfamiliar places.
On the flip side... She is a perfectly normal, healthy 2 year old. She has early intervention coming to our home because of delays caused by her vision problems but is expected to fair well with some visual aids at school.
Anyone else have a child with this type of disease?
