I think Colin Creevy is just obnoxious, not so much spectrumy, but it's so hard to tell since, like you said, there's so very little of him mentioned. but yeah that about Neville, I always thought he was.

I always thought that David Archuletta from American Idol might be on the spectrum...

I don't think so. Alan Greenspan was born fifteen years before Stanley Greenspan. That would be cool, though, like how Simon Baron-Cohen and Sacha Baron-Cohen (a.k.a. Borat) are cousins.

This is an interesting thread. However, I honestly am not seeing a lot of these people as being on the spectrum. Tom Cruise? Keanu Reeves? Whoopi Goldberg? I don't see it. What am I missing?
Robin Williams, JIm Carrey, and Rachel Ray strike me as ADHD, not on the spectrum (unless you are considering ADHD to be on the spectrum). Maybe they are manic? I don't see Asperger's in them though.
Some are a bit "strange" - I'm thinking Johnny Depp and Buckethead, but does this mean they are on the spectrum? A lot of entertainers are "creative" and "artsy". What makes them spectrumy?
The only ones I know for sure are Darryl Hannah and Matthew Laberteaux (I know I butchered the spelling of his name!) - the guy who played Albert on Little House on the Prairie.
I would strongly suspect Bill Gates (have you seen the video on youtube of him rocking? Holy Aspergers!).
I am trying to understand the spectrum and I am really curious what it is about these people that makes them spectrumy?
P.S. I love Max and Ruby too.
Thanks,
Kristin

LOL, I second Daria being Aspie. I've thought of this before. She only has one friend, and speaks in a monotone. And in gym class she just stands there. That's what I did.

And definitely Dwight Schrute from The Office.

The pianist in Shine. played by Geoffrey Rush. Can't believe I forgot his name!!! I'll remember... David Helfgott. I don't know much about the actual person, and am definitely thinking about the movie character.

The kid in August Rush seemed a little spectrum-y to me but then again there was some mystical realism involved so "diagnosing" him would ruin it a bit... but I found his little quirks SO charming.

It's all relative, and Einstein had autism too.

Now Baby Einstein videos and toys make me laugh, because it's like, they're accidentally promoting autism as advanced cognitive development (which it is, but few realize the astronomical potential in autistics).

LOL at Max and Ruby. We have to strictly limit television because our spectrum kid scripts like crazy after 2 or 3 viewings. And he became particularly attached to Max's mini-scripts, so that show was banned for life in our house.

I don't think I saw anyone mention it before, but Dan Akroid does has aspergers. He has commented on it before. I keep saying "see, my son can be like Bill Gates, Einstein or Dan Akroid, all great people to want to grow up and be."

Andy Warhol.

I recently attended a Warhol exhibit with my DS1, and my heart swelled in recognition of his spirit.

Forrest Gump
Steven King
Robin Williams
Alice Cooper (maybe)
Jim Carrey (doesn't he have some kind of diagnosis?)

And slightly off topic and a fictional character, but did anyone see "Martian Child"? That kid was 90% my son.

I pray for the day Family Court recognizes that CHILDREN have rights, parents only have PRIVILEGES.  Only then, will I know my child is safe.

Um, Robin Williams.

FWIW, I can't stand Max and Ruby because of the incessant: "Oh Maaaaaaaaaaaaaaax."

Luna Lovegood & her father are a solid argument for the genetic connection in autism (YoungSon contributed this).

Robin Williams seems very ADHD to me rather than ASD although I guess some would say ADHD is on the spectrum so he is spectrumy.

One of the kids in Role Models - I don't remember movies well, but this guy was my son... Obsessive about Society for creative Anachronisms, socially inept...

Andy Warhol did have Asperger's. He is in the book, My Autism Heroes.

Bill Gates also has an Asperger's diagnosis. He does not like to talk about it. He does however, pay for his employees' children at Microsoft to get services for ASD (that insurance does not usually pay for, such as ABA and floortime).

Mike Myers is also thought to be on the Spectrum. He was interviewed after Shrek the 3rd and something was mentioned about him possibly having Asperger's. I'll have to see if we still have the article.

I cannot stand Max and Ruby! Where are their parents?? And Ruby is too bossy! We do not watch it here, I did see it a few times at others homes.

Take care!
