Okay - I'm measuring 21wks at 17wks pregnant - VERY unusual for my normal pattern of carrying babes which is 2-3wks behind!. I'm honestly not worried but the doc made some comment about "Oh, we could suspect twins - are you feeling movement?" To which I answered that I'd only just in the last two days started to feel what I thought could definately be babe moving. She said - Oh, then its not twins. If it was you'd have felt LOTS of movement by now.

I do have an u/s scheduled on May4 as I have a history of low lying placentas, so we'll know for sure then, and I honestly don't think it IS, but really - how accurate is that statement??

Did you feel movement way earlier with multiples? Or did you not feel anything 'extra' and found out about twins at 20wks or so???

I felt movement way earlier w/my twins (9 weeks) but I do know of others who felt it later than with their singletons. It varies - it's not a true predictor either way.

I am pregnant with twins and just started feeling movement a few days shy of 17 weeks. I wouldn't classify it as LOTS of movement, either, but looking back, it seemed more than my other 2 pregnancies.

I don't think that would be a great indicator, especially to give a statement like that. I did feel movement a bit earlier but it was also my third pregnancy so maybe I was just more in tune with it - kwim? My biggest indicator was similar to what you're experiencing. Measuring 3-4 weeks bigger when I'd measured a couple of weeks smaller in my other two pregnancies. Let us know what the ultrasound reveals .

I don't think it's a great indicator. I felt a LOT less movement with my twin for the first, oh, 21-22 weeks. It was because they had an anterior placenta. Now, once they grew up past their placenta, I felt a ton of movement. But I felt hardly anything at the beginning.

I felt the twins early (possibly at 10w, for sure at 11w), but I also felt DS1 at 12w. I didn't feel them consistantly until somewhere around 16-18 weeks. I don't think I felt any more movement than with my singletons--I actually think I felt less with the twins than with DS1.

It might be true that on average, generally speaking, twins are felt earlier than singletons. But for him to be so confident and makes such a blanket statement-- no. I think the only reliable way to diagnose twins is ultrasound.

I did feel my twins very early, though, like around 12 or 13 weeks. My singletons I never felt until around 18 weeks.

I'm not sure if I feel reassured or freaked out! LMBO I felt DD at about 16wks, DS1 at about 11wks and DS2 at 17-18wks as I had an anterior placenta with him. So I've got such a wide range. Now I'm 17wks and definately feeling babe, but not regularly. BABE - not BABES! LMBO

This is the comment that made me go...uh oh! LMBO

I will for sure let you know on May 4th. Until then I'm going with the 'bigger cuz its the 4th' syndrome! LOL I'm really glad this doc won't be delivering my babe - she's just the GP who does my prenatals....and I really only went so that I could get in for the u/s!

I felt my singletons earlier because I have an anterior placenta.

I felt some maybe movemts at 17 but nothing until at least 19. My OB said there is no association btw having twins and earlier
movement. In my ddc (which is about half twins and half singles there was no correlation)

Both of my placentas were anterior, so I didn't feel any movement til almost 20 weeks. I didn't feel a LOT of movement til 23-24 weeks.

I measured bigger when normally I was smaller.

It rarely felt that the movement was more than one for most of my pregnancy.

I didnt feel my twins move until I was 24 weeks! They were my first babies though, so I didnt really know what to look for. My last pregnancy I had an anterior placenta and didnt feel movement till 22 weeks or so either regularly. So I dont think that is very accurate.

I felt mine just a early as with my singleton and they CONSISTANTLY moved less then he ever did. Your Dr should probably be far more suspect then he is. I guess you'll know soon though!

ARGH! LOL I measured 19 at 17wks - and the ONLY time I"ve measured on track was weeks 34-36 with my 3rd - who was a 10.5lb baby. And that was measuring ON track since I'd been behind the whole time.....

I did conceive twins once before with my 3rd pregnancy (2nd to carry to term) but I lost one twin early on - about 8/9wks and the other twin was born happy and healthy at 40wks....

Boy - now I'm going to be on edge......LOL I'm showing WAY more than I ever have before too which I know isn't an indicator, but.....oh boy. oy eee vey! LMBO

Thanks ladies for the input! I'll know for sure on the 4th.......until then I'll just enjoy this little ONE! LOL

I just found these two quotes from my pregnancy journal with #3 - my 10.5lber. My first two were both about 8lb (7lb15oz and 7lb14oz)

my fundal height was....get this....now - remember my LMP puts me at exactly 25 weeks. The u/s puts the baby at 26 weeks..........and my fundal height was 20!!! So it just proves that I carry babies weird. I always measured under with the others, and am doing it again

I'm at 31w2d, the baby is now measuring 33w2d. Yep - 2 weeks bigger than my LMP says. The last u/s I had said s/he was measuring 1 week bigger. Now s/he's two weeks ahead. The ironic thing is my fundal height is still 3 weeks behind my LMP - so actuallY FIVE weeks behind what the baby is! Amazing how I carry my kids, huh??
