Hello new and not so new twin families!

Our twin boys just turned 4 months old yesterday. Part of me can't believe that they are this age already. It seems just like yesterday that they joined our family. But then part of me can;t believe that they have only been around for 4 months. It seems like forever. Sometimes the individual hours and days d.r.a.g on.

We already have a DD. She is 3.5 yrs old. I am glad we had the chance to parent an infant before. I can't imagine how neurotic we would be as parents if twins was our first experience!

Our DD has adjusted well. She loves her brothers. She doesnt play with them much. But they still do not really do much. They LOVE her. They love watching her and smiling at her. Another great reason to have an older child around. It keeps the babies entertained!!

Our boys seem to have switched personalities over the past few weeks.

We had one that wanted held constantly and the other was fairly chill and content (although liked being held to...but would just fuss, not really cry).

Now the one who used to be the crier is pretty chilled out and the one who used to be chill has all of a sudden become a crier...or rather a screecher. He has found his voice and actually screeches before full out crying.

One is rolling over when doing tummy time. The other hasn't learned to roll over but tries hard. He can scooch himself a bit. So we really have to be careful putting them down anywhere.

The one is isn't rolling has really started to bat at things. He also has realized if he kicks the bar thing for the baby "gym" that he can make the dangling toys move. The other doesn't seem to realize he can reach out for anything and bat at it.

They are both feeding really well. And sleeping at night really well. They start the night in the side carred crib and then end up in our bed after the first waking. They are waking 2-3 times a night. Better than our DD did until she was about 2!!

The daytime naps are a challenge. We still havent put them down in the bed for their naps. Right now we take them for a walk in the morning and afternoon to get good naps in. Other than that they have little cat naps after nursing.

They haven't fallen into a routine of 3 naps a day yet. Can't remember when that is supposed to happen.

So...what's up in your lives with your new twinfants??

My girls turned 6 months old (although 3 weeks adjusted) on 4/3.  I can hardly believe it!  Sometimes it seems like time flew by, other times it seems like a century has passed smile.gif

They are both so engaged and happy and excited to learn.  It is awesome to see all of the developments (I'm a first-time mom).

The love to play in their exersaucers, getting a bit bored with playmats, but still on them some.  I can tell they are close to sitting up with assistance.  Both sleep pretty well at night in their cribs, only waking once or twice.  Naps...ugh.  I hear ya on that one.  They nap beyond 30 min. sometimes, but are still napping in their rock n plays.  I'm terrified to move them to cribs for naps, but I know they need to.  I have tried a few times and they immediately wake up and cry really hard. I think I need to read the no-cry sleep solution for tips.  The stroller is definitely a friend for us as well.  In fact, my husband is out w/ them right now!  One also naps longer than the other, which can really throw off things.  But, I try to enjoy having one awake at a time, as it means more one on one time, even if I don't really get a break.

I love singing to them and reading to them.  Their smiles make my day.  Just this week they seemed to really be noticing one another more.

Last week we started tasting some solids, which is fun.  They have had baked and pureed sweet potato, banana, steamed and pureed carrots, and a little organic oatmeal cereal (all mixed w/ milk, of course).  Next week I would love to try some avocado or pureed green beans.  We are taking it slow, but so far, they love everything.

My girls were three months on Friday :) The were 5 weeks early, so I suppose they are really two months, adjusted, but we havent really been saying that.

We've been supplementing since birth, and these girls are eating a crazy amount of food. They were both around 4.5 lbs at birth, and are now both about 10.5 lbs, more than double their birth weight.

Both girls are sucking on their hands, on their thumbs, and on the backs of their fists. They are both really interested in looking at the ceiling fan and anything else that is moving. We have a turtle that projects water images onto the wall, and they love it.

They have started to develop personalities, thankfully, because they look exactly alike. Wendy has a birthmark on her back, but other than that, I have no way to tell them apart. We are planning to get the zygosity test at the end of this month if we don't start to see some differences. Basically, Callie is slightly more calm than Wendy. Wendy seems so stoic, until she cries and then it's a complete meltdown for about 10 minutes.

We are so, so happy that it is getting warmer outside. The stroller has been so awesome these past couple of weeks.

One thing that is happening, that I wasnt really prepared for, is that we get a lot of attention. Everywhere we go, people come up to me and talk to me, or stop me and ask a ton of questions. I didnt realize how much I dont like being the center of attention.

It really is a life-saver, isn't it?  :-)

My b/g twins are about to be 9 months. My dd just turned 4. I am happy for summer but ha e no idea how I'm going to handle entertaining my dd now that she isn't in school. The babies are crawling in all different directions and are so active. They aren't sleeping well at all and only nap when I hold them - I just posted about the sleep disaster that is my house but seriously I'm going to loose it. On the upside during waking hours they are super fun!
