I was talking to a woman on the phone yesterday and mentioned that my girls who are 2 1/2 are still nursing. She seemed amazed by that even though she is a bf'ing mama. I know that we are way off the curve for the length of bf'ing twins but they still seem like such babies to me. Are my girls among the oldest on this board still nursing? Who has gone longer...how long? I want to hear your stories!!

My twins are now 21 months old, so we arent quite where you are yet. But I expect to get there.
My ds1 weaned at about 2 1/2. I have no reason to expect my twins will wean any earlier than that.

My girls are 27 months & still going strong, although I'm doing more & more distraction & such, I have to admit I'm not really enjoying toddler nursing so would be happy to see them choose to wean but they're not there yet.

We're still nursing at 25 (almost 26) mos. Down to 1 or 2 times per day though. I thought one or both might wean completely, now that Dylan isn't night nursing...but now I think they might continue with this for awhile. We'll see.

Mine aren't as old as the OP's twins. But they're almost 22 months and no signs of weaning yet. Sometimes I wish they would, though.

My 4 1/2 year olds are still nursing and sharing with their younger sister. It's a bit exhausting at times and I won't nurse 2 at a time anymore as it isn't comfortable. My daughter might have weaned just before our baby was born but then my milk came in and she went right back at it. My son however I'm not sure will ever slow down....

Congrats to those of you hanging in there to do the best for your twins.

My twins are 7 now, but the nursed until almost 5, one was 4.5 the other about 4.11. At the end, I couldn't nurse 2 at a time either, I never really knew why, it just bugged me. I also night weaned at 3.5.

My girls are almost 28 months old and still nursing. I just went away for a few days, during the day, and came back empowered to set limits for them, since they did so well without me! So, they can nurse in the morning, after lunch for nap and after dinner for bed.........and then we're still trying to work on night weaning. It's be terribly difficult with two of them. I want to sleep through the night.

Just thought I'd share this info.

I have a hard time finding other mamas that bf their twins here in St. Louis, MO...more or less mamas that are extended bf'ing. I recently posted a message on the online local twins club message board if there were any others bf'ing their twins 1+yo and that I'd love to hear their situation. I received only 1 reply back from a mama I just met who is bf'ing her 9 mos twins. NO ONE ELSE!! Keep in mind this is also a VERY VERY active message board with over 700 people in the club.

So needless to say I am the minority around here.

ps. The mama with the 9 mos twins had posted a message about AP parenting and if anyone in the club did it. I was the only one who responded to her other than one other that said she has seen AP mentioned in a book before but said "it didn't seem practical for a family with twins".

I'm not sure if I find this more funny or sad. :LOL

gotmilkmama, ditto to everything you said. Our MOMs club is big too (about 600 members) and I feel like a freak. I've tried finding others who do extended nursing and I only got 2 responses.

AP is a bad word to some of the mothers in the club. Someone actually tried to insult me once on the message board by saying "You sound like you're into AP." I replied, "yes I am, and?" :LOL

Oh good mamadawg - I'm not the only one who feels like a freak! Or at least gets looked upon like I'm a freak! :LOL

I think it's great that you mama's are able to BF so long! I stopped at 14 months and everyone I knew has been harassing me to stop.. If I had more support I might have continued!

Last month I met another BFing mom with twins (12 months) who EBF and was still going strong - the first person I met IRL who also BF twins.. I was soo thrilled!

I'm still nursing ONE of my two-and-a-half year-old twins. I weaned them both at 27 months, but it soon became clear that one of them was not ready (and that one of them really was). Nursing just one is wonderful! We don't nurse that often--not even everyday--at most, two or three times a day. . . only when he's really upset. Dw's been away for three weeks and there's been a lot of upset around that. My weaned twin asks to nurse almost every time he sees his brother nursing, and I always let him try, but he doesn't remember how to do it. He sucks just on my nipple for a couple seconds and then comes off and say, "It's not really good." I'm actually pretty relieved that he's so done with it and okay with being done with it. I couldn't have gone on nursing the two of them for much longer. I can honestly say that parenting them is much easier now that they're not both nursing anymore. It was a huge source of jealousy and maternal rage (if there is such a thing!) in our house, and also kept my guys from wanting to do anything other than nurse when I was there. They were classic addicts

Mindfully mothering SIX kids (ages 5, 6, 8, 9, 11 & 11) in a small house with a lot of love.

20 month old twin girls still nursing here 3-4 x a day.. Today for the first time they didn't want to nurse before their nap. I sat there waiting with the EZ 2 Nurse pillow, but they didn't want to come over. I suspect they thought if they didn't nurse then they wouldn't have to take their nap! We'll see tomorrow.

I am still nursing my 20 mo. old girls....( I wish there was a smilie for that!)
They always nurse together and about 2-3x a day. The only time it really bothers me is when I need to trim their fingernails!
