I'm amazed that almost a month has gone by and I finally have a free minute to get onto this discussion forum to announce the birth of my triplets. I guess that is to be expected now that I'm a mama of 5 kids, ages 3 and under!
A few minutes before midnight on August 22nd, one day short of 36 weeks, I gave birth to 3 beautiful girls. They join their big brothers Max (3 this past June) and Evan (18 months). Their names and stats are as follows:
Danika Marge 5 lbs 13 oz.
Taylor Dolores 5 lbs 10 oz.
Maya Evelyn 4 lbs 13 oz.
I can't tell you how thrilled I am to have three daughters. I was bracing myself throughout the whole pregnancy that I could end up with 5 boys! The best news of all is that everyone is healthy and happy. We all came home from the hospital together after 5 days and the girls did not spend any time in the NICU. One of our nurses at the hospital said that in the 25 years she has worked there, this was the first time ever that they've had triplets in the regular nursery. I have to say, I'm quite proud of myself and the girls for being so healthy. I also attribute this accomplishment to the excellent support and sound advice I received from all the moms on this discussion board. I feel that one of the important keys to me carrying so long and for the girls being such good weights and in good health was the pristine and disciplined diet I maintained. After discovering this board at around 20 weeks gestation, I dedicated myself to eating quite healthy; lots of protein, no sugar or refined carbs, tons of water, kale, coconut oil and again, more protein. Sure, it wasn't easy, but I can say it was so worth it!
I'm bf all three and they are gaining weight nicely. The challenge is getting enough sleep at night. I'm hoping after another month or so they'll get into a routine and I'll catch at least a few more Z's.
I'll be posting my birth story and some pics as soon as I have some more free time.
