Seriously, I hope you're getting some awesome belly pictures-- it must be glorious right now!!!

The fact that you have carried these babies not just to the homebirth mark (36 weeks), not just to the term range (38 weeks), not just to term and due date (40 weeks), but to 41 weeks is AMAZING! The fact that you haven't gone to someone begging for an induction right now is nothing short of a miracle-- I remember begging for mercy by the time I was 36 weeks.

Anyway, I just wanted to start your cheering section, because dang, mama, you deserve one!!!

(You other preggo mamas do, too, but 41 weeks is a crazy feat!!)

I agree

I'm a wimp .... hit 36 weeks, and I'm ready to sign up for an induction.

I completely agree! You've done (and are doing) awesome, mama. Again, please let me know if you need anything. I've got a box of mostly 12 month boys clothes available if you could use them.

YOU ROCK my friend! Freaking ROCK! I'm finding the closer I get to my due date the better I feel. It's like seeing the finish line is easier on me, even though I hurt WAY more, than at 32 weeks when it was still months away!

You ladies just made my day. Thank you so much for the cheering! And honestly, if it weren't for this board and all of the wisdom and encouragement passed on by everyone, I would not have made it this far. Many thanks to all of you wonderful twin mamas!

Now, more labor vibes, pleeeease!!!

Wow!!! I have wanted to ask lately, because I realized you were beyond 40 weeks now. Wow!!!!! I think "cooked" babies are such a gift. If you're ready, let them come. Have you ever read the "baby come out" book? It's really sweet. We think it has magical powers, as my DH read it to my first (unfortunately at 35 weeks and she did come out) and the nite or two before the twins came. Really sweet-check it out! Also, about the pedicure, my feet were swollen and it didn't sound pleasant to get one. How about you? I got a belly cast a few days before I delivered, and belly shots (what great timing ) and I am really enjoying seeing just how big my belly was!!!

Way to go!!! How many cm are you measuring now? Then you can say, I may be 41 weeks, but now we all know what being pregnancy X weeks would look like!

I'm measuring 50cm. I think I've heard of some ladies here measuring more than that, and I am in awe! But I definitely get the 'gawking' looks in public.

That said, here are 41 week photos...

DH and I were both about 6.5lbs at birth, so I bet that the twins will be well cooked but not especially big babies.

You look amazing!!!!!

I am getting the crazy looks in public finally, too. It took me getting to 36 weeks. I have a long torso so "hide" my twins well. People say "any day now, huh?" and I say "nope, I have 4 weeks left!"

Then their eyeballs pop out! Here's me yesterday (sorry for the threadjack, I just love comparing twin bellies to see how different they all are!) My babies are about 6 pounds each:

kjoy2 I was just looking for an update. Any babies yet? I'm kind of hoping you don't respond because you're too busy with two little ones!

No, no babies yet. I have done lots of tricks to try to encourage the little ones out, including acupuncture, nipple stim, homeopathics, cohosh tincture, acupressure... I have had more BH contrax this week, a teensy-tiny bit of back cramping Monday morning... and that's it.

This afternoon I just mopped my entire house, hoping that if I pretend to be in uber-nesting mode, then the babies will soon follow

At 41 1/2 weeks I don't want to push my care providers too much - they have been so supportive and amazing but are somewhat shocked that the babies are still on the inside. We had a very early trans-vag ultrasound, so EDD cannot be too far off. I will try more nipple stim and acupressure tonight and, if no labor by tomorrow morning, will likely break out the castor oil. I do wish they'd come on their own accord... I feel somewhat puzzled and bad about trying to evict them, but my consolation is that at least I didn't follow 'twin standard' and do a pitocin-induced or c-section at 37 weeks. I let them cook, but now it's time to continue baking on the outside!

I know it probably would not be for the "fun" of it at this point, but certainly having some sex at this point could hurry things along. (Not that you probably haven't already tried that!)

And I've heard of a formula you could try too: Get in a warm shower and do 5 minutes of nipple stim on the right side, then 5 minutes of nipple stim on the left side (separately) and then a 5 minute break. Repeat this for a total of a 30-minute shower and then go for a 30-minute walk. You can repeat the whole process again (for a total of 2 hours) before waiting until the next day to try it again. It will definitely give you contractions and HOPEFULLY get labor triggered! Do you know if you are dilated at all yet? And are you planning a hospital birth? I'm SO in awe of how far you've been able to carry these babies (not just physically but emotionally as well!). You truly are an inspiration!
