I wanted to say thank you so much to the OP and all the mamas who have left replies of support. I too have been dealing with serious guilt ever since I went back to work in March, when my DD was 12 weeks old.

(And before that, really...uncontrollable sobbing about having to go back to work in the weeks beforehand, made worse by the fact that we had a major BF FAIL, which made me convinced that my DD did not want me and I was a HORRIBLE mother completely unlike I had planned to be.)

I, too, have spent an incredible amount of time trying to figure out how, financially, I could stay at home with her, but it just wouldn't be possible, seeing as I make about 55% of our income...unless we lived in a tent.

Like I said before, THANK YOU so much for this thread. I came on here today looking for something else (I don't even remember what it was now, ha!), and found this thread, and it has really done a lot for my spirit and helping me be at peace with the fact that I have to work. Glad to know you are out there!!

Hi Mama,

I'm the OP and I just wanted to offer you s and best wishes. I can't say that I am no longer dealing with guilt but it's so much better since I posted and read all the amazing replies from so many wonderful mamas out there who are making career and family work, oftentimes with spectacular results. The thing I'm learning as I progress on this rollercoaster of a journey is that there is "no one size fits all" when it comes to parenting. Our paths are shaped by unique circumstances. The only constant is that we all love our kids and want the best for them, however differently we define it.

Working mama to a wonderful baby girl. Married to a really sweet guy. Just trying to do my best.
