For YEARS my son, who turned 5 a week ago, gave me hell about working, begging me in tears EVERY NIGHT to stay home with him.

Well, now I'm seriously contemplating quitting my job in order to start my own business and have been mentioning that this would mean I could spend more time with him and his little sister. But I guess they were paying attention to all those conversations about why mama works after all!

Both kids have informed me they want me to keep my job.

I guess I'm just saying - if you have little ones who are mad about your absence and it's leaving you torn, opinions do change! Hang in there.

(From what little sense I was able to make of preschooler logic, they appear to be more concerned about diminished material resources than motherly fulfillment, so maybe I didn't quite make my point as originally hoped, but I still love hearing them finally tell me that it would make them happy if I kept my job. I've only ever heard the opposite. And I have a feeling if I didn't, they'd still forgive me ;)

Mother of two since 2007 and 2009. Hoping third time's a charm in 2012.

thumb.gif What a great reminder! And it's so true, too... kids are flexible and bright. I think what they're really saying is that you are rocking the working bit AND still piling on the mothering fulfillment!! orngbiggrin.gif
